The Theatre Institute at Sage presents

Benjamin Franklinstein the Musical

Adapted from the books by Matt McElligott and Larry Tuxbury

Music and lyrics by Michael Musial

Book by Matt McElligot and Larry Tuxbury

November 30 – December 11, 2022

Benjamin Franklinstein the Musical is a new musical from the team that
created Backbeard the Musical! Tori Godwin’s life is thrown topsy turvy
when a freak accident reawakens Benjamin Franklin, who has been hibernating
in her basement for centuries! Tori and her friend Scott must help Ben
adjust to life in the 21st century. Complicating the situation is the fact
that when Franklin’s energy drops, he transforms into a rampaging monster,
desperately (and dangerously!) hungry for electricity. Can two kids and a
reanimated electric zombie patriot save the planet? Find out in Benjamin
Franklinstein the Musical!

Benjamin Franklinstein the Musical is directed by Russell Sage’s Michael
Musial, Edith McCrae Professor of Fine Arts and Professor of Music.
Musial, also composer & lyricist of this production, has joined up once
again with authors Matt McElligott and Larry Tuxbury to create this musical
adaptation based on the writing duo’s Benjamin Franklinstein trilogy. This
has been the three’s first collaboration since multiple successful
runs of Backbeard
the Musical! Though originally delayed due to the pandemic, this new
musical will finally hit the stage at the end of November 2022!

The company includes local actors Mike Belloti and RSC Alum Eddie Knight as
well as local youth actors Harper Silvestri and Jude Agnew. These actors
are joined onstage by current Russell Sage students Phil Bruns, Cameron
Richardson and Jenna Wilkinson. The actors are supported by the technical
talents of many current RSC students, including performing arts major
Regina Desrosiers as the production stage manager.

Benjamin Franklinstein the Musical will be playing at the

Schacht Fine Arts Center in Troy, NY

(5 Division Street)

and is recommended for all ages.
