Bridge Street Theatre is thrilled to present a one-night only recital by
The Zēlos Saxophone Quartet on Saturday December 3 at 7:30pm. Returning to
Catskill for the first time since their hugely successful appearance at BST
in early 2019, this vibrant and youthful ensemble will perform a festive
program of American masterworks ranging from the serenity of William Grant
Still to the flamboyant tango of Astor Piazzolla in the theatre’s intimate
“Priscilla” Mainstage located at 44 West Bridge Street.

Dedicated to performing a wide array of repertoire ranging from
underrepresented contemporary works to transcriptions from the baroque,
classical, and romantic eras, Zēlos has been heard across the United States
in live concerts at venues such as 405 Shrader (San Francisco, CA),
Bainbridge Museum of Art (WA), Beethoven Center (San Jose, CA), and the
Herbst Theatre (San Francisco, CA). They have also participated in summer
music festivals such as Festival South (Hattiesburg, MS), the Mana
Saxophone Institute (San Jose, CA) and the National Music Festival
(Chestertown, MD), where they have enjoyed performing not only in the
concert and recital halls but equally comfortably in farmers markets and
public spaces. This season's highlights for the quartet have included
performing Philip Glass' “Concerto for Saxophone Quartet” with the Redwood
Symphony, as well as performing as season openers for the sold-out Music by
the Sea chamber series as a part of wining the Beverly Hills International
Auditions. Zēlos can be heard on NPR's Live Sessions and has appeared twice
on Northwest Focus Live! on Classical KING FM in Seattle, WA. Recent awards
include the Grand Prize at the Frances Walton Chamber Competition, winner
of the Beverly Hills National Auditions, 1st prize in the 2018 California
MTNA chamber music competition, and 1st prize in the 2018 South West Region
MTNA chamber music competition.

All seats for Zēlos’ exciting and eclectic holiday recital are $15 and are
available at the door on the day of performance only, one half hour before
curtain time. This one-time-only pitstop in Catskill is guaranteed to warm
a wintry upstate evening. These kids (David Cortez, soprano sax; David
Baker, alto sax; Robin Lacey, tenor sax; and Johnny Selmer, baritone sax)
are consummate musicians and absolutely on fire! Don’t miss your chance to
hear ‘em blow the roof off!
