Not So Common Players
Auditions for Guys and Dolls
May 11th & 12th

Clifton Park: Not So Common Players, the musical theatre group in
Clifton Park, will hold auditions for Frank Loesser’s GUYS and DOLLS,
Wednesday, May 11th and Thursday May 12th from 7-9 pm at the Locust Lane
Clubhouse (Moe Road to Clifton Park Center Road, turn West and then turn
Left at Hemlock and then Right on Locust Lane), Clifton Park. The
production, sponsored by the Town of Clifton Park, is a feature of the
free summer festival at The Common. Performance dates are July 15, 16,
17 and July 21, 22, 23 & 24.

Needed are actors who can sing and dance, 18 and older are preferred.
Casting is for principle roles and chorus parts for men and women. Come
prepared to read from the script, dance, and sing a prepared number from
a Broadway show (16 bars or one verse). Accompanist provided.

Set in Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City, this oddball romantic
comedy soars with the spirit of Broadway, as it introduces us to a cast
of vivid characters: Sarah Brown, the upright but uptight “mission
doll,” out to reform the evildoers of Times Square; Sky Masterson, the
slick, high-rolling gambler who woos her on a bet and ends up falling in
love; Adelaide, the Hot Box nightclub performer whose chronic illness
comes from being engaged to the same man for 14 years; and Nathan
Detroit, her devoted fiancé, desperate as always to find a spot for his
infamous floating crap game.

The colorful ensemble includes fellow gamblers Benny Southstreet,
Nicely-Nicely Johnson and Big Jule, Harry the Horse; Lieutenant
Brannigan; members of the Mission band, assorted other gangsters, Hot
Box dolls and Arvide Abernathy and the Salvation Army evangelists.
