 Position: Sound Technician
 Institution: Bennington College

 Bennington College seeks a Sound Technician to work closely with 
 music faculty, students and IT staff. The Technician will be required 
 to provide technical assistance and maintenance for Bennington's 
 music recording studio, mixing studio, electronic music studio, 
 computer/MIDI based music composition workstations and for the 
 miscellaneous sound needs of the music faculty. Responsibilities also 
 include supervising live recording and sound reinforcement of campus 
 music presentations, troubleshooting student technical problems, 
 responding to faculty requests, managing Music and Sound Design 
 student workers, and providing basic support and instruction in 
 equipment use.
 
 A thorough knowledge of Mac OS X and Mac networking and the ability 
 to maintain Mac systems is required, as is facility with Protools- 
 based acoustic studio recording and associated DSP plug-ins, MIDI 
 production, Finale software and Max/MSP. Also needed are strong 
 skills in troubleshooting and maintaining computer-based audio and 
 MIDI systems as well as setup and operation of live sound systems. 
 Experience with professional microphones and analog/digital recording 
 equipment in a recording studio environment is also required. A 
 Bachelors Degree is recommended. This is a full-time position during 
 the academic terms (8 months each year), with benefits.
