Auditions for The  Tale of the Allergist’s Wife by Charles Busch will be  
held TONIGHT Tuesday, November 14 and Thursday,  November 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the 
SCP Playhouse, 12 S. Church St., Schenectady,  NY  12305.  Registration for 
auditions begins at  7:00 p.m. each night.
 
Marjorie Taub, the wife of a  philanthropic allergist, is engulfed in a life 
crisis of Medea-like proportions.  Her children are grown, her beloved 
therapist died recently, and her  bowel-obsessed mother incessantly needles her. She 
tries to lose herself in a  world of art galleries, foreign films and avant 
garde theatre, but finds she is  barely able to rouse herself from her sofa. Her 
spirits suddenly soar when a  fascinating and incredibly worldly friend from 
her childhood appears on her  doorstep. Lee the savior that infuses Marjorie 
with life becomes Lee the  unwelcome and sinister guest in short order. Winner 
of the Outer Critics Circle  John Gassner Award and nominated for a Tony Award 
for Best Play.  
AVAILABLE  ROLES 
MARJORIE  TAUB  - Female.  Age  35-55 or an actor who can play within that 
range.  The Allergist's  wife.  She is a studied individual who imagines herself 
to be highly  cultured and intellectual. Marjorie is very "buttoned-up" and 
finds herself in  the middle of a major life crisis. 
IRA TAUB - Male.  Age 40-60  or an actor who can play within that range.  He 
has been, for several  years, a highly successful Allergist in the New York 
area.  Prestigious  Doctor (at least in his own mind).  Engrossed in his work, 
he has very  little awareness of the other parts of his life. 
FRIEDA - Female.  Age 65-80 or an  actor who can play that range.  Marjorie's 
Mother.  Fussy and completely obsessed with certain  aspects of her health.  
She is a tough woman and extremely critical of her  daughter. 
LEE - Female.  Age 35-55 or an  actor who can play within that range.  
Marjorie's childhood friend.   She exudes the persona of a sensual woman of the 
world. 
MOHAMMED - Male.  Age 20-30 or an actor  who can play that range.  This actor 
should be someone of Middle Eastern, Indian, or Pakistani  descent or with an 
appearance similar to Middle Eastern.  He is the doorman  in the building and 
plays a pivotal role in the unfolding plot. 
The Tale of the  Allergist’s Wife will  be directed by Matthew T. Teichner. 
Production dates are Jan. 26-28 and Jan. 31  - Feb. 4, 2007.  Perusal scripts 
are  available.  Volunteers are needed to  help build the set and work 
backstage.  House manager and hospitality staff are also needed.  For more
