Broadway’s legendary musical has been specially adapted to meet the needs
of young performers. This epic story recounts the struggle against
adversity in 19th century France. Imprisoned for stealing a loaf of bread,
petty thief Jean Valjean is released from his 19-year term and not only
becomes and honest man, but the mayor of a prosperous town and a loving
adoptive father - violating his parole in the process. The relentless
Inspector Javert, who makes a decent life for Valjean impossible,
consequently pursues him. Only years later, after Valjean proves his
mettle during a bloody student uprising and saves the life of a young man
hopelessly in love with Valjean’s adopted daughter, does the ex-convict
finally feel fully redeemed.

CASTING 32 STUDENTS FOR THIS PRODUCTION.

Seeking Male and Female High School Students (9th – 12th grades only), who
sing well for all roles.

Also seeking 2 girls, and 1 boy (5th or 6th grade), who sing well for
featured roles.

Auditions will be held at the Cohoes Music Hall on:
Monday September 17 – 5pm – 8pm
Wednesday September 19 – 5pm – 8pm

THERE IS NO FEE CHARGED TO STUDENTS CAST IN THIS PRODUCITON!


All students auditioning should prepare 32 bars of a Broadway song. Bring
sheet music. If familiar with the show, students can sing from the show.
Everyone auditioning must sing with piano. No tape recorders.

If cast in the show, everyone must be at all scheduled rehearsals.
Detailed rehearsal schedule will be given to everyone at the first
rehearsal.

There are no rehearsals scheduled Thanksgiving weekend, or Christmas
holiday. Rehearsals will resume December 29.

C-R KIDS - The Program

C-R Kids - a resident youth acting company that offers a total theatre
experience to its members. A total theatre experience means that all C-R
Kids have opportunities to act, sing, dance, direct, design, stage manage,
choreograph, run lights and sound, backstage crew, box office,
concessions, and marketing.

C-R Productions aims to provide quality after-school programs for children
by offering unique opportunities and enriching experiences. C-R Kids
participants will learn a variety of new skills and will be rewarded by
their accomplishments. They will have the opportunity to work with
regional and visiting artists and theatre professionals and will learn
team-work, communication and problem solving skills as well as time
management and self-discipline through various project activities. C-R
Kids provides activities that foster the development of positive social,
emotional skills, and encourages creative thinking and self-expression.
The program seeks to meet the needs of the children and their families by
developing continuity between school, after school, and home.
