29 and 30.  
Sign in is at 7:00 PM; Auditions start  at 7:30 PM




BELLES
A play in two acts and 45 phone calls

Auditions for Ghent’s 2009-2010 season opener, BELLES, will be held Monday
and Tuesday, June 29 and 30 at the Playhouse. Sign-in begins at 7:00 PM. 
Performance dates are October 9 through October 25, 2009.
Belles is a play about six Southern sisters who hail from Memphis and manage
to stay in touch in spite of being scattered all across the country.    Each
sister, while nurturing her own independent neurotic life, has a fierce,
dysfunctional bond with her other siblings. They maintain contact totally
through the phone lines, and the dialogue is poignant, funny and thoroughly
engaging.
Character breakdown:
Peggy - about 40, rooted in Memphis, the oldest sister, caregiver and
dispenser of family news.
Aneece - about 37, lives in Philadelphia, single businesswoman, drinks a lot
more than she cares to acknowledge.
Roseanne - about 29, lives in Atlanta, preacher’s wife, mother of two, is in
crisis and can’t articulate her dilemma.
Audrey - about 32, lives in Collierstown, MS., married with no real children
 aspires to a country singing career.  
Sherry Dust -  about 30, lives in Elk Run, WA, single, changes names and
free-wheeling lifestyles at will.

Paige - about 19, single, a college student in Austin, TX, treats dating
like a varsity sport.
No need to prepare a monologue – all readings will be from the script.
