Confetti Stage announces auditions for its March 2010 production of Barbara Field’s adaptation of Gertrude Chandler Warner’s THE BOXCAR CHILDREN.
 
AUDITIONS will be held on Wednesday & Friday, NOVEMBER 11 and 13, 2009 at Confetti Stage @ The Albany Masonic Hall 67 Corning Place, Downtown Albany, NY.  (directly behind City Hall and across the street from The Crowne Plaza)
 
Registration will begin at 6:30 with AUDITIONS beginning at 7:00pm each night.
 
Those auditioning are asked to bring a 1 - minute monologue or reading that showcases your ability to create a character. If you do not have a monologue, one will be provided.
 
The audition may also consist of reading from the script.
 
Be prepared to have fun while auditioning and leave your nerves at home.
 
Rehearsals will begin in mid-February.
 
THE BOXCAR CHILDREN is scheduled for production March 19 – 28 at The Albany Masonic Hall in Downtown Albany.
 
THE STORY
The Alden children, orphaned and in danger of being sent to different foster homes, run away and make their home in an abandoned railroad boxcar.  Together they discover what it takes to survive while being pursued by the authorities and a mysterious stranger.  As they discover the rewards and perils of life on the run, as well as the joy of keeping their family together, they realize that there are others ready to help them and they are not alone after all.
 
CHARACTERS (age ranges are only a guide. Confetti Stage has a history of non-traditional casting)
- THE CHILDREN 
 
Henry : male, age range 13 - 15, twin of Jessie. 
 
Jessie : female, age range 13 - 15, twin of Henry.
 
(Henry & Jessie are twins in the story. If you are interested in auditioning for either of these roles please do NOT let your lack of a twin stop  you.) 
 
Violet : female, younger sister of Henry and Jessie, age range 10 - 12.
 
Benny : male, youngest sibling of the three, age range 7 - 9.
 
- THE ADULTS: (Two male and two female. The adults will be playing a total of 10 characters.)
 
Male : age range 30's - 50's - Mr. Alden, Officer Banning, and Cookie.
 
Male : age range 30's - 50's - Dr. Samuel Truman and The Sheriff. 
 
Female : age range 20's - 30's  - Sarah Calder, the Welfare Worker, and The Kid. 
 
Female : age range 30's - 50's - Mrs. Alberts, Mrs. Truman, Bakery Woman, Big Mike.
 
BANJO & HARMONICA PLAYERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND THE AUDITIONS! J
