AUDITION NOTICE: Equity Principal Actors needed for Capital Repertory
Theatre's 2010-2011 Education Season

 

Albany NY (August 30, 2010) - Capital Repertory Theatre announces equity
principal actor auditions to take place on Friday, September 10 for the
2010-2011 Education Season for two TYA touring 'On-the-Go!' productions - A
Mid Summer Night's Dream (Fall 2010) and Petticoats of Steel (Spring 2011).
Auditions will be at Capital Repertory Theatre, located at 111 North Pearl
Street, Albany, NY. Actors must live within commuting distance of the
theatre. There is no housing available.

Prepare two (2) one-minute contrasting monologues, of which one must be from
a Shakespearean work.  Please bring picture and resume, stapled together.

 

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM

A fast-paced 70-minute version of Shakespeare's romantic comedy that blurs
the line between fantasy and reality.

 

First rehearsal:  Sept. 27, 2010

First performance:  Oct. 12, 2010

Closing performance:  Oct. 30, 2010

Seeking 4 versatile actors; 2 males and 2 females.  Must be able to play
multiple roles.  Character voice-work a plus.  Examples of tracks that
actors might portray:

Female:  Helena, Theseus, Titania, Snug, and others as cast.

Female: Hermia, Quince, Fairy, and others as cast.

Male:  Lysander, Oberon, Flute, Philostrate, and others as cast.

Male:  Demetrius, Bottom, Court Member, Fairy, and others as cast.

 

PETTICOATS OF STEEL

An original work using primary sources to tell the true stories of the women
of New York State - Susan B. Anthony, Sojourner Truth and Elizabeth Cady
Stanton - and the roles they played in gaining voting rights for all women.

 

First rehearsal:  March 11, 2011

First performance:  March 25, 2011

Closing performance:  April 8, 2011

Seeking 2 versatile female actors.  Must be able to play multiple roles.

Female:  Caucasian, 20's - 40's, to emulate Susan B. Anthony, among others.

Female:  African American, 20's - 40's, to emulate Sojourner Truth, among
others.

For the past decade, Capital Repertory Theatre's TYA touring "On the Go"
productions have been presented in a variety of schools and environments
throughout the Capital Region to very diverse audiences.  Actors should
enjoy performing for and interacting with young audiences (middle and high
school students).  There are post-show discussions after every performance
(time permitting).  There are no overnight stays on the tour.  Performance
times vary on a daily basis. The TYA work week is Monday-Saturday.
