THEATER VOICES will hold auditions for a staged reading of The
Rainmaker by N. Richard Nash, directed by Eileen Schuyler
The Rainmaker is set in the American West in a drought-beset moment
when Lizzie Curry’s hopes of marriage and lasting happiness are
faltering. It is both a comedy and a romance.
The following roles are available:
H.C. Curry –50s-60s. A straightforward rancher, good-hearted,
patient and tactful. He does the best he can for his family, and
recognizes his limitations as an ordinary good man.
Noah Curry – late 30s-40s. A rigid, unimaginative man, who sees the
world through a rather harsh lens, and believes the best way to
approach life, is to face unpleasant truths.
Jim Curry – early 20s. A young man bursting with high spirits and
inchoate longing, he rushes headlong into every experience.
File – late 30s. Deputy Sheriff. A reticent, shy man of quiet
intelligence. If he is a little bitter, he leavens that with a kind
of wry humor.
Sheriff Thomas – mid-40s-60s. Good natured, practical and kind.
The roles of Lizzie and Starbuck have been cast.
Auditions will be held at 79 N. Pearl Street (next door to Capital
Rep, above the Bayou Cafe) on the 2nd floor.
Audition dates and times:
Sunday, December 5 from 3:00 – 5:00pm
Monday, December 6 from 7:00 – 9:00pm
You can come either night. Please try to arrive on time, and be
prepared to stay.
Rehearsal and Performance dates:
Rehearsals will be held evenings beginning the second week in
January. There will be performances Friday February 11-13, as well
as an open rehearsal on Sunday, February 6 at 3:00pm.
