Theatre Workshop posts auditions for New Play Festival
JOHNSTOWN --- Theatre Workshop, the Colonial Little Theatre playwrights group, posted auditions for its 2010 New Play Festival of stage readings.
The audition will be held Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. at the 1 Colonial Court playhouse.
The festival will be presented Nov. 12, 14, 19 and 20.
“Hurricane Gin,” a comedy by Carl Ritchie is scheduled for Sept. 12 and 14. Leta Aldous will direct. Thomas, Evelyn and their 16-year-old daughter are living a pleasant enough life that is suddenly interrupted by the arrival of a distant cousin, Virginia (Gin). Three women, two men needed.
“An Evening of Short Plays” will be presented Nov. 19 and 20. The plays are: “The Thirty-Ninth Year” by Anita Hanaburgh; “The Waver” by Anthony R. Pezzula; “The Holy Father Saves the Day” by Ron Frankel; and “The Letter Tree” by Jill Sprotbery.
“The Thirty-Ninth Year” depicts the misunderstandings, often humorous, of a long-married couple as they transition into retirement. Tim Orcutt will direct. One man, two women are needed.
“The Waver”: A retired man seeks out a young man who, day after day, stands by the road waving at cars. Tim Orcutt will direct. Two men are needed.
“The Holy Father Saves the Day”: An overly-zealous young priest at the Vatican decides to monetize the Vatican’s under-leveraged real estate assets by taking out a mortgage on them. Tim Orcutt will direct. Four men are needed.
“The Letter Tree”: Emma and Isabelle are the very best of friends. They have made a pact to meet beneath their favorite tree and share the letters of their fathers, who are stationed abroad during World War II. Agnes Kapusta-Skiff will direct. Three women and two men are needed.
