Classic Theater Guild is excited to announce auditions for the yuletide tale and holiday classic, MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET!
Directed by Thomas Dalton Bambury
September 1 & 2, 7:00 sharp, sign in at 6:30
137 State Street, Schenectady

*Please prepare a holiday song as a monologue. This may be done using one or more verses of a song with a refrain (or more), but must be less than 5 minutes if at all possible! Please use this unique audition specification to show off your range/ability, and comedic/dramatic style.
Please do NOT plan to sing your monologue.
(If you would prefer to do a monologue not following this format, it must be approved by the Director prior to auditions, and must be at least five minutes in length)
*Please bring resume/headshot if you have them.
*Looking for all ages, 'kids from 1 to 92' (Actors MUST work well independently and with groups!). Over 25 people will be cast in this production!
*There will also be a brief singing portion of the audition (Non-singers do NOT fret, having a spectacular singing voice is NOT a prerequisite to be cast in this production, nor a requirement to be considered!), and readings will be done from the script.

**Performances: December 9-11, 15-18, Proctors

Adapted from the novel by Valentine Davies, this production will be done true to the time period and spirit of the 1947 Academy Award winning film, starring Maureen O'Hara, John Payne, a very young Natalie Wood, and Edmund Gwenn, who won the Oscar as Kris Kringle.

***At the Macy's Department Store Thanksgiving Day parade, the actor playing Santa is discovered to be drunk by a whiskered old man. Doris Walker, the no nonsense special events director, persuades the old man to take his place. The old man proves to be a sensation and is quickly recruited to be the store Santa at the main Macy's outlet.
While he is successful, Ms. Walker learns that he calls himself Kris Kringle and he claims to be the actual Santa Claus. Despite reassurances by Kringle's doctor that he is harmless, Doris still has misgivings, especially when she has cynically trained herself, and especially her daughter, Susan, to reject all notions of belief and fantasy.
And yet, people, especially Susan, begin to notice there is something special about Kris and his determination to advance the true spirit of Christmas amidst the rampant commercialism around him and succeeding in improbable ways!
