Updated info regarding Round Lake's newest summer experience hosted at the historic Round Lake Auditorium!

Audition Date Change! Auditions will be held on Monday, May 16th and Wednesday, May 18th at the Round Lake Auditorium from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Children should prepare 16-24 bars of a show tune of their choice. An accompanist will be on hand. Those auditioning should bring a prepared song, and either sheet music for the accompanist, or an accompaniment CD without vocals. A scene from Alice in Wonderland will be provided before the audition. Auditions are open to children entering grades 6-10 this Fall.

A $50 deposit is required at the time of audition along with the application and head shot. Applications do not need to be turned in until the night of auditions. Children hoping to be part of crew (and not acting) do not need to audition, but should have their applications turned in by May 18th. They can be dropped off anytime during auditions or mailed to the auditorium well in advance of the 18th so it doesn't get lost in the mix. Checks can be made out to Carpe Diem Productions.

Please open the attachment for more detailed information about the program regarding dates and times and also for the application.

Introducing some of our staff (there's still a few more to be announced):

Heather Ferlo (Director) will graduate from Ballston Spa High School in June and is very proud and excited to be directing Alice in Wonderland Jr. She began her theatrical journey in first grade and hasn't let up since. She's been involved in numerous productions in the community as well as at Ballston Spa High School. Some of her favorites include Annie; Annie, Edwina; Dear Edwina Jr., Ms. Hasler, The Pajama Game, Bet; Oliver!, Jo March; Little Women, Mrs. Potts; Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella; Into the Woods, and Fay Apple; Anyone Can Whistle. In fifth grade, Heather was given the opportunity to work with the acclaimed company Music Theatre International (MTI) in New York City. With enormous support from her family, she was able to take part in a considerable number of experiences. She started with the Broadway Jr. Workshop of Alice in Wonderland, and later, Beauty and the Beast. She also attended the gala opening of the family theater at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. and the Broadway Jr. Festival in Atlanta, GA as a member of the "Broadway Jr. All-Stars." Earlier this year she had the pleasure of working a full-time internship with the New York State Theatre Institute. During her time there she learned many trades of the theatre (including lighting for the stage, sound design, costuming, stage managing, producing, publicity, acting, auditioning, and scenery construction). She gained a great appreciation for the number of hands and amount of talent that is required to make this art form truly special. She has been taking piano lessons at The Music Studio in Albany from Noel Liberty for eleven years. In addition to her piano studies, Heather has privately studied voice with Anne Agresta Dugan for the past four years. Heather will be attending The Crane School of Music this fall and will pursue a degree in Music Education and a concentration in Music for Special Education with hopes to eventually earn a degree in Music Therapy. Heather firmly believes that the theatre is a very important outlet, especially for young people, that will help them to learn more about themselves and how they interact with others. This camp will allow students to expand their knowledge of the art and appreciate teamwork at its finest.

Alexandra van den Heever (Choreographer) is a student at Wheaton College in Massachusetts and has recently completed her Freshman year. She plans on being a History Major with a Minor in Theatre. She first began her involvement with theatre in Ballston Spa Middle School' Launching Pad's Bye Bye Birdie (Conrad fan) and Dear Edwina Jr. (The Fairy Forkmother) with Joe Shaver as her director. Alex continued theatre with Ballston Spa High School Troupe where she gained experience with plays as well as musicals. Credits include: The All Night Strut! (Quintet Alto), BIG! The Musical (Diane), The Pajama Game (Brenda), M*A*S*H (Lt. Fury), Little Women (Aunt March), Don't Drink the Water (Marion Hollander), and Into the Woods (Florinda). Alex also has experience with community theatre. With BARC Youth Theatre, Alex participated in Seussical the Musical (Gertrude McFuzz), The Sound of Music (Sister Margaretta), The Music Man (Eulalie Shinn), State Fair (Judge Heppenstahl), and Bye Bye Birdie (Rosie). With Saratoga Home Made Theatre, Alex was in The Snow Queen (Reindeer), and with the HMT Youth Theatre Conservatory, she was in Beauty and the Beast Jr. (Madame de la Grande Bouche) and Thoroughly Modern Millie Jr. (Mrs. Meers). Alex also has experience backstage. For Ballston Spa Middle School Launching Pad Productions, she helped with hair and make-up for Peter Pan, Annie Get Your Gun, The Wizard of Oz, and Oliver! She also helped operate the sound board at Ballston Spa High School for Theatre Scene Nights, French and Spanish Lip Syncs, Talent Shows, Joanne's Dance Center Competition, Various School Assemblies, and Saratoga Adult BRIDGE's A Christmas Carol. Alex has taken the classes "Intro to Theatre" and "Intro to Acting" at Ballston Spa High School, and so far at Wheaton College, she has taken "Beginning Acting." In the past, she took voice lessons with Melodie Andrade Bishop. For the past three years, she has taken voice lessons with Anne Agresta Dugan and she has taken guitar lessons with Jeffrey Cashen for the past seven months. Alex is very excited to be working with Round Lake Summer Stars!
