for OLIVER!

Auditions @ Shenendehowa Adult Community Center, Clifton Common Court, Clifton
Park NY
April 15th 2 PM - Children only ages 6-16.
Children are asked to prepare 16 bars of a song of their choice. Children's roles will
include Oliver and The Artful Dodger as well as the ensemble of workhouse children.
From this group we will cast a smaller group of Fagan's Pickpockets. Not all children
will be asked to read from the script.
April 16th and 17th Adult auditions 7:30 PM.
Adults are asked to prepare 16 bars of a song of their choice from a Broadway Show.
Please try to prepare an appropriate song in the genre of this show. Readings will be
done from the script.
No a capella singing. Accompianist will be provided.
Callbacks are at the NSCP storefront on the 18th at 7 PM
OLIVER! Is a musical adaptation of Charles Dickens's classic tale of an orphan who
runs away from the orphanage and hooks up with a group of boys trained to be
pickpockets by an elderly mentor. Oliver Twist is sold to a Dunstable undertaker after
asking for more dinner at the orphanage. Escaping to London he is taken in by Fagin to
join his gang of child pickpockets. Wrongly accused of a theft he meets a more kindly
gentleman who takes him in, to the concern of one of Fagin's old pupils, the violent Bill
Sykes. In the middle is Nancy, Sykes' girl whom Oliver has come to trust.
Roles:
Oliver: Soprano- a workhouse boy between 10-13
Artful Dodger- Soprano- Fagin's brightest pupil between 14-16
Fagin- Baritone- An elderly receiver runs training academy for young pickpockets
between 45-60
Nancy- Alto- a graduate of Fagan's academy and Bill's doxy between 21-30
Mr. Bumble- Baritone- a large pompous man runs the workhouse between 40-50
Widow Corney- Soprano- a sharp tongued domineering widow The workhouse
Mistress between 40-50
Mr Sowerberry- Baritone- The Undertaker between 35-60
Mrs. Sowerberry Soprano- His Overseer- 35-60
Bill Sykes- Baritone- A villian in his prime between 30-45
Mrs. Bedwin- Soprano- The Brownlow's Housekeeper 30-60
Bet- Alto- a young girl in Fagan's establishment idolizes Nancy between 18-25
Non Singing parts:
Mr. Brownlow- an older gentleman of wealth and breeding between 50-70
Dr. Grimwig- a doctor between 45-65
Noah Corney- The Undertakers apprentice between 15-25
Charlotte- Undertakers daughter between 13-18
Ensemble to play townspeople
Rehearsals will be Mon Wed and Friday some Sundays as needed.
