*Family Players of NENY proudly announces auditions for their summer
production of The Wizard of Oz!!*


This is the stage version of the classic movie with roles 40+ actors and
actresses of all ages (from 5 to 95) directed by DeLynn Scaringe-Wickham.



Please join us for auditions on:

Wednesday April 18, 2012 from 6:30 pm to 9pm

and

Thursday April 19, 2012 from 6:30 pm to 9pm

At The Sand Creek Middle School Forum (329 Sand Creek Road, Albany, NY).


Children age 5-12 will be considered for Munchkins and other ensemble
roles.  Children with no previous audition experience should come prepared
to sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (or other similar children's song)


Teens and adults age 13 and older will be considered for all other roles
and should come prepared with 16-32 measures of a Broadway song. Please
bring sheet music in the appropriate key. An accompanist will be provided.
Additionally, you may be asked to read from the script. There will be no
dance audition.


Children under the age of 18 must have parent sign off on the audition form
BEFORE the child auditions.


If you haven’t done a show with Family Players before, please bring a small
photo (4 x 6 or smaller) of yourself or a headshot to leave with the
casting committee. It does not need to be a professionally taken.


Performance Dates are July 11-13, 2012 at 7:30 pm and July 14, 2012 at 2 pm
& 7:30 pm at Colonie High School.


There will be mandatory Technical and Dress Rehearsals on June 25-26, July
2-3 and July 9-10. No conflicts or absences will be permitted on these
dates. Some lead roles may be needed for rehearsal July 5-7.

Please bring your calendar and plan to list any and all conflicts from
April 23 through July

All roles are available:

*Dorothy Gale*:  (To play 14-19 years old) Soprano (Range: G to C). Young,
innocent girl with a tendency to find trouble.  Loves her family, friends
and her dog, Toto.

*Zeke /Cowardly Lion*:  (To play 20-45) Baritone/Tenor (Range B flat to F).
Farmhand and friend of Dorothy in Kansas who turns into Lion in Oz.

*Hickory /Tin Man*:  (To play 20-45)  Baritone/Tenor (Range B flat to G).
Farmhand and friend of Dorothy who turns into Tin Man in Oz.

*Hunk/Scarecrow:*  (To play 20-45)  Baritone/Tenor (Range B flat to F
sharp). Farmhand and friend of Dorothy who turns into Scarecrow in Oz.

*Auntie Em*:  (to play 40-65). Dorothy’s Aunt who is hard working and
sturdy and although she is extremely busy, she cares very much about
Dorothy.  Non-singing role.   (May double with Glinda)

*Uncle Henry*:  (To play 40-65).  Dorothy’s Uncle.  He is an honest
hardworking man who owns a small farm.  He is kind and also cares a great
deal about Dorothy.  Nonsinging role.  (May Double with Emerald City Guard)

*Glinda*: (To play 30-45).  Soprano (Range G to C).  The good witch.  She
is beautiful and the protector of the Munchkins and Dorothy.

*Professor Marvel/Wizard of Oz:*  (To Play 45-65).  Friendly traveling
salesman who convinces Dorothy to go back home to her family after she runs
away and turns into the powerful ruler of the Emerald City.  Non-singing
role.

*Wicked Witch of the West/Ms. Gulch:* Must be able to appear 25-60.  The
bad witch.  She is green and mean.  Dorothy’s enemy.  Non-singing role.

A* large* ensemble including many featured roles will be cast to include
Munchkins, Crows, Trees, Ozians, Winkies, Jitterbugs, Winged Monkies,
Poppies and more!

Age ranges are only an approximation.  The Director reserves the right to
make adjustments during the casting process based upon the pool of
auditionees.  Please do not let the age ranges prevent you from auditioning
for a particular role.
