The Colonial Little
Theatre in Johnstown will hold auditions for a production of Neil Simon’s
“Barefoot in the Park” on Monday, March 26 and Tuesday, March 27 at 7 p.m. There are roles for four males and two females:
Corie Bratter: a young bride (20s-early 30s)
Paul Bratter: her young husband (20s-early 30s)
Mrs. Banks (Corie's widowed mother): late 40s-early 60s)
Victor Velasco: Paul and Corie's upstairs neighbor (50s-60s)
Telephone repair man: adult male
Delivery man: adult male
"Barefoot in the Park," one of Simon's most beloved plays, focuses on a blithely romantic young bride and her more pragmatic husband (a fledgling attorney intent on succeeding in his job--at the apparent expense of his marriage). Their relationship is complicated by the bride's mother, the worldly Velasco, and the romance that seems about to blossom between them.
A movie version features Jane Fonda, Robert Redford, Charles Boyer, and Mildred Natwick.
The production will run June
1-3 and 8-10. Direct questions to director John Birchler at johnbirchler311 at yahoo.com.
The theatre is located at
1 Colonial Court.
