The Drama Program at The College of Saint Rose is seeking three male actors in their twenties or thirties to play roles in “Naked” by Luigi Pirandello. All three roles require that the actors somehow look Italian or Mediterranean.
Ludovico Nota: An intellectual and successful novelist. He is prone to speaking philosophically (and is at times the voice of Pirandello); charming, sophisticated, and a bit world weary, he is caught up in the tragic story of the play’s heroine, a former nanny whose charge died under her care.
Alfredo Cantavalle: “a self-important, Neapolitan journalist,” an early version of a paparazzo, who wrote the sensationalist article about the play’s heroine’s attempted suicide. He is fast-talking, cynical, and self absorbed.
Senor Grotti: The Italian consul in Smyrna, Turkey, who was the play’s heroine’s former employer. (It was his child who died through the nanny’s neglect.) “A dark, respectable-looking man” whose eyes and face “express tough, sober reserve.”
Rehearsals are generally scheduled for evenings as they fit the actors’ and director’s schedules. The play is to be performed 4/19, 4/20, 4/21, 4/22 2012.
