TITLE:  YOUTH and COMMUNITY PROGRAMS MANAGER 

DEPARTMENT: EDUCATION

REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION

JOB SUMMARY:

Proctors Education Department is a critical division of our growing arts center, serving over 40,000 children and adults each season.   Programs have been strategically created to provide for diverse needs of our community and to cultivate the audience of the future with a special commitment to school partnerships, community engagement and the underserved. As a vital member of Proctor's staff, the Youth and Community Programs Manager will manage media outreach programs, including Open Eye programs: MediaWorks, After-School and Training Institute, as well as producing MasterMinds television quiz bowl,  High School Festivals and Art Shows,  and the annual Educator Extravaganza event. Knowledge of and ability to converse in Common Core Standards, curriculum and media as a tool for communication and building strong communities is essential to this position and building appropriate programming with partner organizations. Strong networking skills and ability to secure appropriate faculty for programs is required.  Attendance at Education meetings, and knowledge of all aspects of Education and Education policies is vital.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·      Administration of various programs

·      Assembling materials for and promoting programs to various audiences

·      Building relationships and facilitation of those between teachers, teaching artists, administrators, students

·      Creation of and promotion of effective learner center programs with clear objectives and evaluation modalities

·      Creation of and administration teacher resources

·      Evaluation of programs

·      Post positions and interview potential appropriate faculty for programs

·      Creation of and maintenance of budgets for programs

·      Facilitation of web-site maintenance for programs

·      Ability to advocate for arts education programs and build effective support for such

 QUALIFICATIONS:

·     BA in education or similar with teaching experience.

·     Arts experience preferable, with strong interest in or knowledge of media as communication.

·     Experience with NYS learning standards (Common Core) and curriculum.

·     Computer skills required in Word, Excel, (PowerPoint and others a plus)

·     Understanding of the value of the arts in education and value within a community.

·     Appreciation of the arts to promote creativity, and inspiration for life long learning.

·      Must be a leader,  dependable and self-motivated.

·      Have professional demeanor and appearance.

·      Have the ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.

·      Be a team player who is able to work well with others.

·      Possess strong verbal and written skills.
