A NEW MUSICAL IS COMING TO SCHENECTADY FOR 2014
Composer Alex Torres and author David Kalish have teamed up to create a new Hispanic centric take on the classic Dickens' A Christmas Carol. This new musical THE GRINGO WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS, produced by Dkat Productions, Inc. will receive its WORLD PREMIERE with a full theatrical production in the G.E. Theater at PROCTORS on December 12th-14th and 19th-21st.

Please note as this is a new musical there will be an extended rehearsal period, however we will only be meeting once or possibly twice a week from March through September.  The final rehearsals will begin in early October.  This will be a LIGHT and FLEXIBLE process through September.

Roles available for 10 Men, 7 Women, and 4 Children... Casting both Hispanic and non-Hispanic actors...

Auditions will be held February 26th and 27th at 7:00 PM in the downstairs education space at PROCTORS Theater in Schenectady, New York.  (The stairs are directly in front of the box office)...

We ask that you prepare 16 to 32 bars of a song (standards, Broadway, Pop/Rock, etc.)...
Please come prepared to dance as some people will be asked to participate in a dance audition...
Please come prepared to read a monologue...

Character Descriptions:

KEVIN MARTIN/DIEGO MARTINEZ (Hispanic Male 30's to 40's) - A miserly Hispanic who rejects his culture and starts a company called "English Without Accents," a language school to rid immigrants of their accents and cultural identity.  He changed his name to Kevin Martin from Diego Martinez to "fit in"...

CARLOS MANUEL GARCIA (Hispanic Male 40's to 50's) - Kevin's dead business partner who was killed by a political extremist, while recruiting newly naturalized immigrants to sign up for English Without Accents...

FERNANDO (Hispanic Male 20's to 50's) - Kevin's Mexican office assistant who gets paid little and is exploited by Kevin, but manages to send money each week to his family in Mexico...

MARIA CONSUELO (Hispanic Female 20's to 40's) - Kevin's former love interest, a nurturing mother and talented dancer; kind hearted but bitter with a secret she keeps from Kevin...

GABRIEL (Hispanic Male Child 5-12 Years Old) - Consuelo's sickly son...

GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST (Hispanic Male)
GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PRESENT (Hispanic Male)
GHOST OF CHRISTMAS FUTURE (Hispanic Male or Female)

There is a 10 member ensemble for which we are seeking BOTH Hispanic and non-Hispanic Actors...
Additionally there are roles available for 4 addition child actors in the range of 5 to 12 years of age…
