Albany Civic Theater is holding open auditionsfor: PROPOSALSBy Neil SimonDirected by Stephen Foust Show Dates: February 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22,/ 2015Preview: February 5, 2015 Audition Dates: Monday and Tuesday, November 10, 11,2014Time: Sign-ins begin at 7PM both nights at thetheater, 235 Second Ave. Albany, NY. We are looking for 4 females, and 5 males. Auditions willconsist of reading scenes from the script provided for you at the audition. Character Descriptions: Clemma Diggins, F (40’s – 50’s). African-American and thefamily’s housekeeper. Her husband deserted her years ago. She dreads reunitingwith him. Burt Hines, M (50’s – 60’s). Father to Josie. A recovering“workaholic”. Just had his second heart attack and is still very much in lovewith his ex-wife. Josie Hines, F (20’s – 30’s). Athletic, determined, andintelligent. Has just broken off her engagement with Ken and longs for Ray. Ken Norman, M (20’s – 30”s). A good looking, intense HarvardLaw Student. Is despaired over his fiancee’ breaking up with him. Ray Dolenz, M (20’s – 30’s). Attractive, athletic, aspiringwriter. Dates an unintelligent model.Annie Robbins, F (40’s – 50’s). Josie’s mother and Burt’sex-wifeVinnie Bavasi, M (20’s – 30’s). A Miami gangster who speaksstrangely. He doesn’t fit in, but he doesn’t know it… or does he?Sammii, F (20’s – 30’s). Beautiful, but dim-witted model.Lewis Barnett, M (40’s – 50’s) African-American. Clemma’shusband who returns after 7 years.  Synopsis: A nostalgic memory play, PROPOSALS recalls oneidyllic afternoon in the summer of 1953: the last time the Hines family gathersat its retreat in the Poconos. Clemma, the family’s housekeeper (and thestory’s narrator), dreads a visit form her husband who deserted her yearsbefore. Burt Hines, a recovering workaholic convalescing from a second heartattack, looks forward to the arrival of his ex-wife whom he still loves. Burt’sdaughter, Josie, has just broken her engagement to Ken, an intense Harvard lawstudent, and she yearns for his buddy, Ray, with whom she had a brief affair. Anote of hilarity is added to the gathering when Ray shows up with a striking butdim-witted model on his arm, and a young Miami gangster with a gift formalapropisms.
