> INFORMATION FOR THE AUDITIONER
>
>
> Auditioners should be in 9th-12th grade and should come prepared, with sheet music, to sing 16 bars of a musical theater pop song, not necessarily from the show. An accompanist will be provided. There will be no a capella singing. In addition, auditioners may be asked to read a monologue that will be provided. Dance auditions will be conducted the same evening. Please wear/bring comfortable clothes to dance in. Headshots and resumes are requested, but not required.
>
>
> Special Note: It is required that you bring a list of any conflicts that you may have between the audition dates and the dates of the show. This production will require the actors to be present at most rehearsals. Only minimal conflicts will be accepted, and must be approved, in advance, by the production team.

> Set in a mythical “once upon a time” sort of land, Shrek the Musical is the story of a hulking green ogre who, after being mocked and feared his entire life by anything that crosses his path, retreats to an ugly green swamp to exist in happy isolation. Suddenly, a gang of homeless, fairy-tale characters (Pinocchio, the Three Pigs, you name it) raid his sanctuary, saying they’ve been evicted by the vertically challenged Lord Farquaad. So Shrek strikes a deal: I’ll get your homes back, if you give me my home back! But when Shrek and Farquaad meet, the Lord strikes a deal of his own: He’ll give the fairy-tale characters their homes back, if Shrek rescues Princess Fiona. Shrek obliges, yet finds something appealing–something strange and different–about this pretty princess. He likes her. A lot. But why does she always run off when the sun sets? Shrek is a wonderful, energetic and inspiring musical that teaches us it’s ok to be special. It’s ok to be who you are!
