There is no need to prepare a monologue; auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. The nine characters in "Looking For Normal" are listed below. The play is about Roy and Irma who have been married for twenty-five years. They have two children. They live in the heartland. They're respected members of their church and their community. When Roy and Irma go to their pastor for marriage counseling, Roy confesses that he's a woman trapped in a man's body and would like to have a sex change. As would be expected, Irma throws Roy out of the house. A humorous, poignant look at gender issues and social ties that bind. To be considered for a role, an actor must be able to play in the age range indicated.

Roy: 45-55. Middle-class working man. Works for a John Deere plant.

Irma: 45-55. Roy's wife of 25 years. Mother of two. Housewife. Has spent most of her time focusing on the simpler things in life.
