Synopsis and Cast Breakdown: One of Tennessee Williams masterpieces, The Night of the Iguana is set in the deep sultry coastal jungle of 1940's Mexico. The action takes place on and around the veranda of a dilapidated hotel run by the sensuous and earthy, newly widowed Maxine Faulk. All the guests and inhabitants come together in this engrossing story of dying dreams, frustrated sexuality, and lost-souls shaped and changed by the turgid, tropical heat that surrounds them. Rev. T. Lawrence Shannon - Mid-30s to early 40s, de-frocked minister, alcoholic trying to recover, carries a worn and faded pride, an unfocused passion lurks deep within. Maxine Faulk - Mid-30s to early 40s, lusty, rapacious, newly-widowed, sole proprietor of the Costa Verde Hotel. Hannah Jelkes - 30s-40s, soft with a steel spine, gentle and not-so-innocent, loves her Nonno absolutely unconditionally. Jonathan Coffin "Nonno" - 97 years "young", oldest practicing American poet, beginning to show his age but still has his powerful moments. Miss Judith Fellowes - 45-55 years old, powerful blowhard, full of self-important rage.
Charlotte Goodall - 17-21 years old, a lovely picture of innocence and youth, full of misplaced passion and ignorant wantonness.
Herr Fahrenkopf - 50-60 years old, proud German national, loves his family and good times. Frau Fahrenkopf - 45-55 years old, proud and protective German mother. Wolfgang - 20-25 years old, young, innocently full of himself. Hilda - 17-23 years old, thrilled to simply bask in her family's German pride and do exactly what's expected of her. Hank - 40-60 years old, earthy, sensible, a working man, just trying to get through the day. Jake - 40-60 years old, sympathetic but scheming. Pancho and Pedro - 15-20 years old, locals, young and full of energy, bellhops, handymen, iguana-catchers and occasional night-swimming companions for widow Faulk.
