Town Players of Pittsfield  is holding auditions for its Spring 2017 fully staged production of "The Whale" by Samuel D. Hunter, directed by Jackie DeGiorgis, with performances at the Whitney Center for the Arts  March 17-26, 2017.
 
Set in rural Idaho, surrounded by computer screens and food containers, Charlie, a 600 lb. recluse is determinedly eating himself to death. Only his estranged daughter, an extremely acerbic and bitter teenager, can make Charlie see any kind of future beyond his current despair. In her, Charlie finds one last chance for redemption, and perhaps even a bit of hope.


The lead male role of Charlie has been cast. Remaining roles to be cast are: 
Ellie - ages 18-25,  estranged daughter of Charlie
Elder Thomas - ages 20-30, Mormon missionary hoping to "save" Charlie
Liz - ages 35-45, Charlie's home health aide
Mary - ages 40-50, Charlie's ex-wife


Auditions will be at 6:30pm on Wednesday, December 28 at the Whitney Center for the Arts, 42 Wendell Avenue in Pittsfield. Sides from the play will be provided.
