SHYFT is SEEKING TEEN PERFORMERS
for
Saratoga’s 2017 MLK Celebration
 

Calling Teen Performance Artists interested in lending their talent and activist passion to several upcoming community events, with an initial focus on Saratoga's Celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. (Monday, Jan. 16th, 2017).  

Past material has included performance art adaptations, original spoken word, contemporary music, and staged readings of the words of civil right leaders.  

We are also working towards taking SHYFT on the road - crafting performance "segments" around specific themes, such as Diversity, Bullying, Grief & Healing.  (Our material and rehearsal schedule will be based on this year's troupe.)

 SHYFT (Saratoga's Humanitarian Youth for Transformation) is a troupe of high school and young adult actors, writers, musicians, and dancers who have been working together since 2010 under Lezlie Dana’s direction and coaching. 

Exploring the "Act" in "Activism," SHYFT seeks & creates opportunities for young adults to use their developing artistic talents as a vehicle for Social Change and Community Action.
