Albany Improv is offering two new classes running in February and March:

*Story Theater*

Come peel back some of those acting chops you have picked up, and toy with
the Story Theater style. Think of Story Theater as proto-western Theater.
The Theater somewhere in that never existed time between minstrels and the
contemporary theater, where the story is all important and all performers
are all things-plus the music. Folk tales, fables and mythic stories are
rediscovered and retold, and sometimes rewritten to hold truths up to the
audience’s bright light of engagement and understanding. Often used as and
misunderstood as only a children’s theater device, this style has seen the
lights of Broadway and some of the best theaters in the land. Basic stories
are quite revealing!

Come play and grow your storytelling chops.

The nature of improvisation here is sometimes in the playing, but always
very much in the development and rehearsals.



5-Week Class with Graduation Performance

Starts Tuesday, February 20th

Class Time from 7:00 - 9:00pm

First Unitarian Universalist Society of Albany

*See it! Touch it! Use it! Play!*

This class will explore the use of space and space work as a means to
identify the where what who and when of a scene. Players will explore the
idea of space- its weight, its feel and its uses. The class will then play
with the idea that having access to a “real, tangible” universe allows the
player to escape the depressing and rather boring ‘two people standing
upright trying to be witty and funny.'  Players will dive into Where Who
What and explore the idea that *there is less work to be done in scenes*!
All skill levels are welcome and encouraged! Stop being a talking head!
