The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is a delightful holiday comedy based on the 1971 book by Barbara Robinson. It tells the story of The Herdmans, six delinquent children dubbed "The Worst Kids in the History of the World" Smoking, cussing, drinking jug wine, and shoplifting, The Herdmans, go to church for the first time after being told that the Sunday School offers free donuts. Despite protests from other church members, they are given roles in the Church's annual Christmas play. The Herdman's meet Christmas head on and tell the Nativity story in a fresh, unconventional but somehow even more meaningful fashion. First published in McCall's magazine before it was adapted into a book, this modern holiday classic has sold over 800,000 copies Our large cast of local children and adults looks forward to making this a Pittsfield family tradition.
