Modern dance is a catch all phrase  that usually derives from  the blending of various styles of dance: ballet,classical modern dance (Martha Graham, etc) ,
classical Indian dance .native American dance ,jazz and African dance.

The teacher of this  class  Beth R Jacobs has studied and performed as a ballet and modern dancer locally in Wash DC, Sf Ca and NYC.

She studied at the SF Ballet school performing with various dance companies in the bay area,she studied in NYC at the Paul Taylor Modern dace studio has performed with the Albany Berkshire ballet and and in general has studied most major modern dance /post modern dance styles and classical ballet styles.

Wear stretchy clothing have longer hair pulled out of face at least  in a ponytail and be prepared to dance barefoot  or in socks.

WE may organize a field trip to NYC at the additional expense of the individual student  to take classes ( previously we attended class at the Alvin Ailey school).
