Acting and singing auditions are Saturday, June 29 from 10 am to 2 pm at Bridge Street Theatre, 44 W. Bridge Street, Catskill.  Doors open at 9:30.   Sign up for a time slot, or drop in at any time and we will get you in as soon as we can.


Non-Equity performers only.


Bring a printed picture and resume if you can.  Bring a music track on a phone or tablet, or just sing a capella.  What you sing should show your vocal range.

Rehearsals begin October 22, Tuesdays through Fridays, 5-9; Saturdays & Sundays, 1-5; performances are November 14, 15, 16, & 17.

About JAMOT:  Just a Matter of Time, the Musical:

What happens "when Time disappears?" You'll find out in this hilarious romp through a fantasy world that may be more real than anyone could imagine. When young school girl Meg is told by her caring and worried grandmother that "she has lost her curiosity,"  she is propelled into a world that few could imagine -- a world where Time has disappeared, knocked out in a fight with the Lop-Eared Rabbit. Meg is tasked by the desperate characters in this world to "find Time" before it completely runs out and everything disappears. Join Meg in this compelling adventure through the realms of the imagination and science. For adults and children of all ages (Not recommended for children under the age 7.).

CASTING

Meg, an eleven-year-old girl—Someone in her teens or 20s who can be a convincing pre-teen, at first incredulous of all she’s hearing, but opening up to new ideas and engaging with each new character.


Sheep Who’s Lost Her Mind/ Gran, Meg’s grandmother—the Sheep is wacky but wise, very forgetful, and quick to point out Meg’s shortcomings.  Meg’s grandmother, who is gardening, wants Meg to stop memorizing facts and pay more attention to what’s going on around her.


A Beaver (Time’s Keeper)   Wears a green eyeshade and used to supply Time with all he needed—“cider and crackers.  Playing cards.  His favorite magazines.”  He’s desperate to bring Time back.


The Walrus, who sells time—a burly figure who runs the Time Store, which looks like a deli but holds time in various shapes, sizes and containers.  The Walrus is avuncular but threatening, giving Meg the rules for finding Time.


The River Rat /Duck—the River Rat is obsessed with ideas and has a whole yardful by the river, all of them visible.  He’s working on something that looks like a jungle gym, and at one point climbs inside.  He’s obsessed with all his ideas and discusses them lovingly.  The Duck appears in Scene 2, arguing with Mayor Goose.


The Lop-Eared Rabbit/Teacher 3—a boxer by trade, fierce but sad, for he was the one who beat Time.  In trunks and gloves, he recounts the fight, round by round:  “Time slowed, then staggered, moving in circles, hanging back.”  Teacher 3 appears in Scene 1 as a vision.


The Lop-Eared Rabbit’s Shadow/ a Possum—the Shadow boxes/dances with the Lop-Eared Rabbit.  The Possum argues with Mayor Goose in Scene 2 and catches time with a butterfly net.  [Would like to see a sample of jazz dancing or ballet.]


Time—a figure in a yellow jumpsuit wearing a huge clock face (strapped to his chest) and a World War I aviator hat.  He’s been forced by Meg to land his glider.  Quite full of himself and happy to be returning to his tower across from the bandstand.


Already Cast


The Pig Who’s Stolen Time/Teacher 1—Overwhelmed with guilt, the Pig waits in line at the Bank to borrow more time.   Teacher 1 appears in Scene 1 as a vision.  (Leslie Ritter)


The Rhymester (a Mole)/Teacher 2—Once a poet, the Rhymester has had to go underground because “beating time” is no longer allowed.  Teacher 2 appears in Scene 1 as a vision.  (Brian Dewan)


Mayor Goose—Mayor of the town in which Meg finds herself. Thoroughly in charge and making up her own rules. (Meredith Kavanaugh)
