Stop-Motion Animation
Dates: July 8 – 12 | 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Ages: 14 – 18
Tuition: $300
Location: The Addy Media Lab at Proctors
Experience: Introductory - Intermediate

Make inanimate objects come alive! No matter which type of animation you wish to pursue, learning traditional techniques is invaluable in order to gain new perspective and control over the art form. This workshop teaches the basics needed to be a traditional stop-motion animator using a variety of materials including cutout paper, clay and drawings. Emphasis is placed on skill acquisition and experimentation, as well as using emotion to drive movement. Student animators will use iPads and DSLR cameras along with iStopMotion to record their stop-motion shorts. The workshop will conclude with a film festival to screen students’ creations. * All equipment will be provided for the students.

RESERVE EARLY Space is limited. Maximum of 12 animators will be accepted into the program.


Filmmaking Academy
Dates: July 15 – 26 | 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. | M–F
Ages: 15 – 18
Tuition: $525
Location: The Fenimore Asset Management Gallery at Proctors
Experience: Intermediate - Advanced

This two-week intensive program expands on fundamental filmmaking skills and techniques to create a narrative short film. Students will explore pre-production, production, post-production and distribution- including idea development, camera composition, lighting, sound, and editing. Teams will take responsibility for productions as they work in small groups to bring ideas to the screen using DSLR cameras developing working practices learning exposure, depth of field and composition in their cinematography. Students will strengthen editing skills as they find pacing and editing style that m Students will also learn how to distribute and promote their work in various ways both online and through numerous film festivals.

NOTE Students should be comfortable working on location in the downtown Schenectady area as well as be willing to collaborate with other students in the program.

RESERVE EARLY Space is limited. Maximum of 15 filmmakers will be accepted into this year’s program.
