*Who wants to play Romeo? Juliet? Hamlet? Viola? Falstaff? Portia?*
Come explore the techniques of performing the Shakespeare monologue at the
Albany Masonic Lodge with the Artistic Director of Will Kempe's Players,
Shakespeare scholar Sandra Boynton and guest artist Kristoph DiMaria. Examine
the mechanics, breathing, vocabulary, and form necessary to clearly perform
a monologue from Shakespeare’s text — the class is suited for actors at all
levels of experience. Learn how
Shakespeare's words were written for actors to speak and the speech
instructs you on what you need to bring the character to life!


Please bring a memorized Shakespeare monologue of your choosing
(inclusively cast yourself and choose a piece regardless of your gender,
race or age suitability to the role) from 20-40 lines. Wear comfortable
clothing to move in. Monologue choices should be communicated to Patrick or
Sandy prior to the workshop so there aren't too many duplicates. Limited
class size. There will be an hour break for lunch.

 *Sandra Boynton* spends her time as a theatre maker and educator, staging
plays that invite audiences to become intellectually, spiritually, and at
times, physically involved in the performances. Will Kempe’s Players is the
product of her lifetime interest in the ‘origin’ theaters of classical
Greece and Early Modern England and their interface with their cultures.
Her career includes directing more than 65 fully staged plays, opera, and
musicals.
