SLCA'S 2020 ONE ACT PLAY FESTIVAL

Audition location: 2880 NY 43 Averill Park, NY 12018

ACT ONE: NOVEMBER 7th, 2019. 
6:30-10:00pm
Alpha Betty by Bear Kosik, directed by Michael McDermott
5 Females: Adult age
Five women from various backgrounds stuck in line to use the restroom have
decided to play the alphabet game to pass the time without clarifying the
rules first. The confusion results in fast-paced exchanges adding to the
growing urgency the women feel.

Technology SOCKS! By Julie Demers, directed by Laura Darling
John: 20's-40's
Machine: Any age
Jessica: 20's-40's
John tries to get a simple task done before his party, but technology gets
in the way, making his life much more complicated.

Stalemate by Sue Frost, directed by Val Kavanaugh
Male: 50+
Female: 50+
A couple struggles with unexpected and difficult realities that have no
"right" answer, while still trying to do "right" by each other.

Circus in a Zoo by C.S Brennan, directed by Kevin McNamara
Burt: 40's
Stan: 20's
Monica: 20's

ACT TWO: NOVEMBER 12th, 2019. 
6:30-10:00pm

Golf Widow by Jesse Waldinger, directed by Criss Macaione
Hilda: 50-60's
Martha: 20-30
Frank: 50-60's
Hapless Frank Grimaldi, having drawn the short straw, has been relegated by
the surviving golf buddies to relate to Hilda Denton the sad tale of her
husband's demise on the golf course.  He does so, in colorful detail.  The
widow takes the news with extreme equanimity, to the disgust of her teenage
daughter.

The Waiting Room by Roger Gaboury, directed by Matt Coviello
Female: 20-25
Male: 45-50
Frustrated and bored with an overly-long wait for a long-overdue doctor
visit, a middle-aged father is forced to confront his life choices. He ends
up discovering the very nature of life and death with help from his new
young doctor, and learns that waiting is a choice, but so is living. 

Rodney and Henny by Anthony Pezzula, directed by Dennis Skiba
Henny: Late 60's-70's
Rodney: Late 60's-70's
Linda: Age Optional.
Dr. Miller" 40's
Two old friends in a retirement home, one identifies with Henny Youngman,
the other with Rodney Dangerfield. An overworked Doctor confronts one of
them with a reality check causing the other and their aide to deal with the
consequences.

Grammatically Speaking by Paula Hoffay, directed by Katie Weinberg
Eva: 60+
Lawrence: 60+
Ophelia: 60+
Three elderly siblings have recently moved back into the old family
farmhouse together, after living separate lives. Eva is the eldest, and the
only one of the three to have gone off to college, leaving her two siblings
to stay home to help take care of the family farm. Ophelia and Lawrence, who
have secretly resented not having the opportunity to go to college, soon
learn what living with their educated big sister will be like.

-Auditions will consist of cold readings from each play.  
-If available, please provide a head shot and resume. 
-Those auditioning are welcome to audition for multiple plays on both
nights. 

PRODUCTION DATES: January 9, 10, 11, 2020 @8pm & January 12, 2020 @2:30pm.
