Master Class Performing Arts ~ Auditions
ROALD DAHL’S MATILDA THE MUSICAL!
Auditions for actors and actresses ages 8 to 99 are scheduled for Saturday,
November 9 beginning at 6pm at the Electric City Barn, 400 Craig Street,
Schenectady. Registration begins any time after 5:30pm and auditions will
begin promptly at 6pm. Applicants should come prepared to perform 32
measures of any Broadway song, and complete a dance audition. An
accompanist will be available, please bring appropriate sheet music in
order to audition. NO ACAPELLA Auditions will be permitted.

If cast, you are required to accept or decline your role within 24 hours of
the offer or the role will be recast. A $50 audition fee will be collected
at the time of audition, if cast in the production this fee will be
deducted from your tuition amount. If student is not cast in the production
the fee will be returned within 5-10 business days. Remaining Tuition
amount will be due immediately upon acceptance of your role.
MATILDA the Musical – PRODUCTION INFORMATION
Production Team: Directed by Andrew F. Higgs; Choreographed by Tanya
Phelps; Musical Direction by Peter Darling; Produced by Kelly Jaeger
Performance Dates: May 1 - 3, 2020
Rehearsal Dates: Wednesdays (6pm to 9pm), Thursdays (6pm to 9pm) and
Saturdays (11am to 2pm) commencing mid February.
Tuition: $300.00
Adult Performers, ages 19 to 99, DO NOT pay a Tuition Fee to be in this
production.
Rehearsals and performances are to be held at the Electric City Barn, 400
Craig Street, Schenectady.
MATILDA THE MUSICAL CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
*Note that several of these characters may, or may not, be double cast.
MATILDA WORMWOOD – An imaginative girl who is clever and wise far beyond
her years. She has a thirst for learning that cannot be quenched. Gender:
Female. Age: 6 to 10. Vocal range top: D5; Vocal range bottom: A3.
MISS HONEY – Matilda's kindhearted teacher. She is tired of living in fear
under Miss Trunchbull. Gender: Female. Age: 18 to 40. Vocal range top: D5;
Vocal range bottom: F3.
MR. WORMWOOD – Matilda's uncaring father. A slimy, greedy used-car
salesman. Gender: Male. Age: 35 to 45. Vocal range top: A4; Vocal range
bottom: D3.
MRS. WORMWOOD – Matilda's self-absorbed, negligent mother and an amateur
ballroom dancer. Gender: Female. Age: 35 to 45. Vocal range top: F5; Vocal
range bottom: A3.
MRS. PHELPS – A nice librarian. Gender: Female. Age: 18 to 45.
MICHAEL WORMWOOD – Matilda's older brother. He is not very bright and
favored by their parents. Gender: Male. Age: 10 to 15.
BRUCE – Matilda's classmate. He is subject to extreme punishment by Miss
Trunchbull. Gender: Male. Age: 7 to 14. Vocal range top: E5; Vocal range
bottom: C4.
LAVENDAR – Matilda's classmate and friend. Gender: Female. Age: 7 to 10.
RUDOLPHO – Mrs. Wormwood's ballroom dance partner. Gender: Male. Vocal
range top: A4; Vocal range bottom: D#3.
CHILDREN’S ENTERTAINER – A party entertainer at the start of the show.
Gender: Male. Vocal range top: Eb4; Vocal range bottom: F#3.
DOCTOR – Mrs. Wormwood's Doctor when she goes into labor with Matilda.
Gender: Male. Vocal range top: A4; Vocal range bottom: C3.
FEATURED ENSEMBLE (THE ESCAPOLOGIST, COOK, SERGEI, HENCHMAN 1, HENCHMAN 2,
HENCHMAN 3, THE ACROBAT)
FEATURED STUDENTS (AMANDA, NIGEL, ERIC, ALICE, HORTENSIA, TOMMY) –
Matilda’s classmates. They are featured in the opening number and
throughout the entire show. Ages: 7 to 14.
STUDENTS OF CRUNCHEM HALL - The older students of Crunchem Hall. They teach
the younger students how to toe the line to avoid chokey. Ages: 14 to 18.
*Please note that the role of Miss Agatha Trunchbull has already been cast.
