Tap Workshop with Freddy Ramirez – Winter Break
Dates: Winter Break – February 17, 18 & 19, 2020
9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Ages: 13 – 18

NO AUDITION REQUIRED

Tuition: $75

This class is for students that are beginner/intermediate tap dancers. The class will focus on the basics and fundamentals of tap with basic footwork and floorwork.

Freddy Ramirez (Choreographer/Instructor) returned this past summer to SOPA for the fourth year having choreographed LES MISERABLES, AIDA, PIPPIN and ALL SHOOK UP. He is an Associate Artist and Choreographer at Capital Repertory Theatre and Assistant Artistic Director at The Northeast Ballet Company. A former Broadway performer and The Dance Company member Freddy now calls upstate NY home. He most recently choreographed FULL MONTY, SHE LOVES ME, MAMMA MIA, CAMELOT, A CHRISTMAS STORY, GYPSY and THE SECRET GARDEN at theREP. Other Directing and Choreography credits include GUYS AND DOLLS, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, DAMN YANKEES, CAROUSEL, BYE BYE BIRDIE, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS and NUNSENSE for numerous regional and repertory theatres. In addition to the musical theatre world Freddy has created choreography for plays such as SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE, MISS BENNET: CHRISTMAS AT PEMBERLEY, the World Premiere of NAKED INFLUENCE and for national and international dance companies. As a grant recipient, he created and debuted two original dance works which were performed in Germany, Italy and here in the United States.

We suggest tap shoes, but you may take the workshop with hard-soled shoes.  No sneakers, backless or open-toed (sandals) shoes.

Scholarships and payment plan available to qualifying students, by application.

(Enrollment in the class does not guarantee admission into any SOPA program, such as Broadway Camp, which is by audition.)
