Voice Theatre, www.voicetheatre.org is seeking male and female actors for pop-up performances of “POPCORN,” by Karen Gill. Direction: Shauna Kanter. “POPCORN” will consist of three, 5-7 minute plays framed by live acoustic music and circus. “POPCORN” will be performed at Hudson Valley Farmers Markets late summer and early fall on the back of a pick-up truck. There is a small renumeration.
 

All actors must have good vocal production. Circus skills, singing and playing an acoustic instrument a plus but not necessary to audition.

 

Female Roles:

Rosa: Age Range 25-50. Spanish speaker or Spanish accent. Farm worker, illegal immigrant from Central America. Empathic, warm, hard worker.

 

Emma and Julia: Age Range 20-35. Julia lives in Paris, her parents own a farm in the Hudson Valley. She is outgoing and adventurous. Emma works on her parent’s farm, sympathetic but firm. Actor will be double cast in both roles.   

 

Male Roles:

Jose: Age Range 25-50. Spanish speaker or has Spanish accent. Farm worker, illegal immigrant from Central America. Empathic, warm, hard worker.

 

Mike, Sal & Ben: Age Range 30-50. Mike is a guilt-ridden man who has been out all night and wants to apologize to his wife. Sal is a flashy farm produce buyer. Ben is a food photographer and a romantic. All three roles will be triple cast and played by one actor.

 

Farmer Jack: Age Range 50-70. Crusty, been around the block farmer.

 

Rehearsals will take place in Woodstock from Aug. 7-20, 2021. Performances are; Aug. 21, 28, Sept. 4, 11 & 18. Auditions are Sat. May 22nd, 1:30-4pm in Woodstock, NY.  by appointment only. Please submit picture and resume to: info at voicetheatre.org We will forward sides and audition time/place. Rehearsals and performances will take place outdoors, proof of COVID vaccine required. We will be following all COVID safety precautions.
