DRAMA KIDS TEACHING ASSISTANT POSITION NOW OPEN

Drama Kids of the Capital Region is looking for energetic, caring, and motivated people who enjoy working with kids and are passionate about making an impact in our community.  We have PART-TIME, flexible jobs that are perfect for recent college grads, part-time college students, students taking a gap year, or people who are interested in making a difference in kids' lives. Our teachers believe in what they do and that they can affect positive change every day. Their energy and enthusiasm encourage kids to become the best communicators they can be.

Drama Kids is a Creative Drama Enrichment Program where kids "Act Up" with a purpose!

We work with our students' imagination and creativity to develop literacy skills, public speaking, leadership/teamwork and acting abilities, while building their confidence, essential life skills learned in a fun and professional atmosphere.

As a member of our great team you will:

  *   Work 3-8 hours per week during afterschool hours and/or Saturday mornings
  *   Teach and mentor students from 5 to 17 years of age
  *   Assist and co-teach with our dynamic team of Directors and Teen Apprentices
  *   Participate in on-the-job training
  *   Have potential to take on more solo teaching opportunities as our classes grow
  *   Follow provided world-renowned lesson plans on speech, movement & acting
  *   Direct plays and musicals
  *   Build relationships with parents and students
  *   Attend training and monthly staff meetings
  *   Have potential to do additional administrative and marketing work/projects for our location

QUALIFICATIONS:

We are looking for people that...

  *   Have a heart for kids!
  *   Are looking for a PART-TIME, very fun (yet challenging!) opportunity
  *   Are committed to their OWN personal development and looking for an opportunity to gain new skills and grow
  *   Have teaching experience and excellent classroom management skills
  *   Have excellent communication and organizational skills
  *   Have HIGH ENERGY and flexibility
  *   Have afternoons available: specifically after 3:30pm on weekdays and/or Saturdays b/w 10:30am-1:30pm
  *   Have reliable transportation and are willing to commute to various school locations throughout Albany, Schenectady and lower Saratoga Counties
  *   Are willing and able to commit for a MINIMUM of one school year
  *   Theater experience a BIG plus!
