[Confetti Stage]

Confetti Stage is excited to announce auditions for the eighteenth
iteration of the Capital District's longest running festival of locally
written one act plays.



This year's festival features...



"Custody" by Anthony Pezzula and Prudence Theriault

Directed by Vincent Lounello



A recently divorced couple meet to deal with a custody issue. During the
course of the meeting, old grievances and feelings arise threatening a
satisfactory agreement.



She - Age flexible. Recently divorced from HE. Strong willed, independent.
Can be sarcastic or biting, but also caring and reasonable.

He - Age flexible. Recently divorced from SHE. Easy going, somewhat
oblivious to his surroundings. Likes to have a good time, doesn’t like
confrontations, but when pushed, will react.



"Very Mundane Government Meeting" by Matt Reichel

Directed by Laura Darling



The discovery of a massive oil reserve in a backwater banana republic sends
two bureaucrats scrambling to replace their aging dictator and take power
for themselves.



Oslo Kapulkin -  man in his 50s, pencil-pushing bureaucrat.

Jory Hildenburg - man in his 50s, another government drone.

Malthus de los Santos - man in his 40s, hopelessly unqualified military
leader.

The Prime Minister - man in his 70s, elderly dictator near death.



"Musical Chairs" by Dan Smirlock

Directed by Tony Pallone, assisted by Dmitriy Kogan



A widow and widower meet at a restaurant for a pseudonymous blind date.
Both are lonely, and both are hoping to establish a connection, though
they’re not sure they want it to be with each other. As they exchange their
opinions and share their experiences of love and marriage, they find
themselves questioning their own views on these subjects.



Basil - (M, 50s or older): A member of the professional middle class who
prefers working with numbers to working with people. He considers himself
hard-headed, practical, and unsentimental, and understands that he lacks
social intelligence but doesn’t know what to do about it.

Maria - (F, 50s or older): Likewise a member of the professional middle
class. Something of a romantic. A compassionate and empathetic person who
is suffering a bit of compassion fatigue. Sneakily witty.

Ashley - (F, 20s): An aspiring actor, now working, she hopes temporarily,
as a server in an upscale restaurant. Tries to do her job well despite
wishing she were elsewhere. Something of a smartass.

“Echo” by Laura Darling

Directed by Kathryn Capalbo



Two college students follow a mysterious map to an old cave where they
accidentally discover a crack through space and time. An ancient guardian
affords two young women a chance at changing their past to erase a
traumatic event.



Jova - (f) College aged student. Incredibly smart, fearless, but troubled
by past trauma. A loyal friend and knowledge seeker.



Melanie - (f) College aged student. Witty and sarcastic, but sharp and
wary. She is a steadfast friend and highly intelligent, but does not easily
open up.



Echo - (f/nb)Any age. The bodily apparition of what magic remains from the
Oracle of Delphi. Guardian of the secret and the last of a dying memory.



Auditions will be held on August 15 and 16 at 7 PM at the Albany Masonic
Temple, 67 Corning Place, Albany, NY 12207.

Those interested in auditioning should prepare a 1 minute monologue of
their choice. Actors will also be asked to read from sides from the scripts.

Confetti Fest XVIII will be performed October 7-9 and 13-16. Mandatory tech
is October 1-6.
