Good afternoon - We have several new open positions in our Education Departments.
CREATIVE WORKFORCE DIRECTOR
JOB SUMMARY
Proctors is the Capital District’s largest regional arts organization with performing arts venues in Albany, Schenectady and Saratoga, and education, civic engagement and economic development initiatives throughout the region.
The Collaborative School of the Arts is the education wing of the organization, offering a robust series of training programs, classes and engagement programs in each venue, in schools and throughout the community.
Proctors seeks a CREATIVE WORKFORCE DIRECTOR with primary responsibility for creating an annual work plan for workforce and training programs within the School, including strategic relationships and partnerships, articulating goals and objectives for all programs, creating and coordinating marketing plans, developing and administering appropriate program budgets, and strategic planning for future program growth across multiple Proctors organizations as possible.
CREATIVE WORKFORCE DIRECTOR works closely with staff at multiple locations as needed including Proctors, Capital Repertory Theatre, Universal Preservation Hall, The Adeline Graham Theatrical Training and Innovation Center to ensure delivery of all aspects of Education programming and forward-thinking vision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
* Develops, implements and evaluates performing arts training and workforce programs that align with Proctors programming and organizational mission.
* Establishes partnerships and collaborations between Collaborative School of the Arts artists and each specific campus for learning and engagement.
* Hires appropriate faculty for successful delivery of any new and current programming and provides site-based support as needed.
* Initiates and enhances dialogue with community members as needed. With Director, serve as one of the primary learning and engagement representatives at public and special events.
* Develops budgets, goals and success metrics for learning and engagement initiatives; tracks participation numbers and participant demographics as needed.
* Supports training of new staff with current policies and industry trends.
* Cultivates and forges positive relationships with students, teachers, parents and other key constituents in the community while actively seeking to raise their awareness of our CSOA programming and engage their support.
* Is available as needed for administrative support at various locations, is available occasional evenings, and weekend hours, responsive as needed as leader in department.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
* 3-5 years of relevant experience, with practical and management experience as an arts administrator and/or as an arts education specialist.
* Experience working with youth.
* Broad knowledge of various genres of performing arts.
* Working knowledge of national trends in arts learning and community engagement.
* Experience working with diverse populations.
* Creative, energetic and passionate about the performing arts.
* Ability to think strategically and follow-through on operations with attention to detail.
* Excellent organizational, written and verbal skills.
* Self-motivated, team player who can work independently but also in group environment.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education or a performing arts discipline from an accredited university or college.

CREATIVE DRAMA TEACHING ARTIST
JOB SUMMARY
Proctors Collaborative is the Capital District’s leading regional arts organization with performing arts venues in Albany, Schenectady and Saratoga, and education, civic engagement, and economic development initiatives throughout the region. The Collaborative School of the Arts is the education wing of the organization, offering a robust series of training programs, classes, and engagement programs in each venue, in schools and throughout the community.
The Collaborative School of the Arts at Proctors Collaborative is seeking Drama/Acting Instructors for the in-school program Creative Drama. Instructor must be trained in the tools and techniques of theatre arts. This position requires experience in leading instruction in drama, performance, to youths ages 5–12, in a high-energy, fun, yet structured classroom environment that fosters self-confidence in each child. Instructor must be an ambassador for, and have a dedication to, the performing arts.
Workshop content and length will be decided upon, created, and personally delivered by teaching artist. Workshops can include but are not limited to: characterization, stage readings, improv, storytelling, voice work, dance/movement, and more. Final workshop content and scheduling will be decided in collaboration with classroom teachers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
ARTIST WILL:
* Deliver scheduled instructions for their specific school workshop programs, as a representative of the Collaborative School of the Arts at Proctors.
* Create a written lesson plan for each workshop session, including schedule of activities, daily goals, and the way in which those goals will be assessed (formative assessment).
* Teach the basics of character acting and performance techniques through games, activities, lessons, and individual/group scenes; to help students develop skills both individually and as a class.
* Develop a final project/skills culmination/showcase that will be performed by students during final workshop session.
* Inspire students to be creative and facilitate an atmosphere of self-expression, self-esteem building, and the absence of judgment.
* Work with classroom teachers and Education Programs Manager to focus their workshop on specific grade level and relevant curricula.
* Aid in recruitment of other classroom teachers.
* Keep Education Program Manager informed of pertinent information, including any challenges in fulfilling responsibilities.
position QUALIFICATIONS
* B.A. in Theatre or Education, or relevant experience.
* Minimum 2 years of experience in performing arts.
* Minimum 2 years working with youth ages 5 – 12.
* Prior work experience with diverse youth populations of varying racial and socioeconomic backgrounds.
* Prior experience with classroom management.
* Ability to compose a lesson plan complete with scheduling, goals, assessments, and modifications.
* Must have excellent organizational, time management and follow-up skills
* Excellent communication.
* Passion for theatre and arts education.
*
* Experience with and knowledge of virtual classroom platforms, and their use for student engagement, (e.g., Zoom, Google Classroom, Google Meets) not required but encouraged.
CONTRACT PERIOD:
All offers of employment are based upon satisfactory completion of a background check and affirmation of artist and youth policies.

This is a Part Time contracted position with no benefits, from November 2022-April 2023.
Exact dates, times to coordinate with teaching artist and classroom schedules.
Stipend will be provided to artist at the completion of workshops.

ACTING ACADEMY INSTRUCTOR/DIRECTOR
JOB SUMMARY
Proctors Collaborative is the Capital District’s leading regional arts organization with performing arts venues in Albany, Schenectady and Saratoga, and education, civic engagement, and economic development initiatives throughout the region. The Collaborative School of the Arts is the education wing of the organization, offering a robust series of training programs, classes and engagement programs in each venue, in schools and throughout the community.
The individual for this position will manage an after-school theatre training program for middle school youth from Schenectady City Schools. This may include but is not limited to directing one show per year while providing training and instruction in various theatre techniques: acting, vocal technique and choreography/movement. Instructor fosters an atmosphere of fun and learning where the concept of teamwork can flourish and serves as a role model to youth, encouraging in their efforts and teaching about new career opportunities along the way. The Acting Academy Instructor has overall accountability for the delivery, quality and success of the program and its students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
* Develops a combination of drama-based activities including plans for one spring show for parents/family/friends.
* Responsible for direction of spring show and corresponding meetings and activities with technical personnel.
* Responsible for the development and implementation of innovative and age-appropriate enrichment activities, and projects taking into consideration youth needs and abilities
* Promotes positive character development in all youth.
* Accountable for ensuring an emotionally and physically safe environment for youth that meets all compliance and safety requirements set forth by the organization.
* Creates and distributes schedule of all activities and ensures appropriate record keeping for shows as well as reporting of youth attendance
* Ensures youth and their families are properly informed and prepared for all special events in coordination with Proctors staff
* Keeps Education Programs Manager informed of pertinent site information, including any challenges in fulfilling responsibilities
* Tracks and cares for all equipment and supplies purchased for program
* Ability to work collaboratively with Site Manager and adjuncts for the program.
* Other duties as assigned
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
* Minimum 2 years experience in performing arts and working with youth required
* Understanding of how to produce a show for middle school youth.
* Passion for Collaborative School of the Arts at Proctors mission and youth development.
* Teaching and after school management experience preferred
* Prior work experience with diverse youth populations of varying racial and socioeconomic backgrounds.
* Understanding of virtual platforms and use for youth engagement (Zoom, Google Meets)
* Knowledge of arts programming and duties of show director
* Strong leader and team-builder
* Ability to resolve conflicts and negotiate solutions
* Ability to lead meetings and delegate tasks
* Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with proven ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals both in person and virtual, applying tact and discretion as situations demand
* Must have excellent organizational, time management and follow-up skills
* Responsible and professional conduct that serves as role model to staff and youth
* Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
