> I am in the process of creating a chorus of 24 voices, to sing my new work, “REQUIEM …Songs for this World, and the Next.” We will be rehearsing on Sundays in September and October. REQUIEM will have its premiere performance in Schenectady the first weekend in November. I have pretty much got everyone I need, but I have yet to find three singers, each of whom is crucial to this work, and I’m looking very specifically. First : I need a YOUNG ACTOR/SINGER, age 19– 24. He has a solo telling us about who he was; about the end of his life on a battlefield; and how he feels about what happened to him. The song needs a strong voice with a good range …but what I’m really looking for is a fine actor who sings. Second: I need TWO CHILDREN — a boy and a girl — each aged 10, 11, or 12 — who can really sing. Not Broadway - style voices, necessarily. The boy’s voice must not have changed yet! They would be singing a song in which they figure out that life is finite. They also will be singing the Agnus Dei. They would be the only children in the chorus - hence, very visible. I would say this is an opportunity for young, experienced performers who might be interested in the challenge of choral singing, which is very different from the usual pre-teen theatre experience. It’s an exciting process for everyone involved, bringing a new piece of music to life. If you feel you might be interested, I would be happy to hear you sing.
