The DENIZEN Theatre—New Paltz’s professional black box theatre is now
taking video audition submissions for their upcoming production AN ACT OF
GOD by David Javerbaum to be performed at DENIZEN Theatre, November
26-December 23, 2022.

Performance dates: November 26-December 23, 2022

Performances are Thu-Sat at 7 p.m., and Sunday at 2p.m.



This is a paid gig under an Equity Special Appearance contract.

ABOUT THE PLAY



AN ACT OF GOD is a sinfully funny and critically acclaimed new play where
the Almighty and His devoted Angels answer some of the deepest questions
that have plagued mankind since Creation. He’s returned to set the record
straight… and He’s not holding back! Called "a gut-busting-funny riff on
the never-ending folly of mankind’s attempts to fathom God’s wishes through
the words of the Bible and use them to their own ends.” By The New York
Times, this hilarious 80-minute comedy is “written by God” and transcribed
by 13-time Emmy® Award winner David Javerbaum (The Daily Show).





As God and his Archangels are unknowable and undefinable, the character
descriptions are open and general. There are no particular physical
requirements (except a facility for physical comedy), nor age restrictions.
The characters can be of any gender or race. What is vital is a great sense
of humor, good comic timing, and an excellent facility

with language. All actors need to SING and MOVE WELL.


CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

GOD

Pronouns: Thee/thou/thine. Ageless.

The one and only God. A divine presence. A jealous, petty, mass-murdering
narcissist ... and very, very funny.

MICHAEL: Ageless.

An Archangel. One of God’s wingmen (as ‘twere). A “company man” who
eventually

has the nerve to ask the big questions and suers a fall from grace.
GABRIEL: Ageless

An Archangel. A very chill, efficient person. A heavenly stage-manager.
