Announcing auditions for Bunbury Players’ production of

*THE EFFECT OF GAMMA RAYS ON MAN-IN-THE-MOON MARIGOLDS*

All roles are open to performers of all ages, ethnicities, and gender
identities.

Beatrice Hunsdorfer — An abandoned and then widowed mother of two, an angry
embittered woman who lives in a fantasy world, marked by illusions of what
has been, and what could be which prevent her from dealing with her life
practically. She verbally weaves a dark mental and emotional vision of the
world as deadened and dangerous for her daughters. Her life and its
disappointments have made her cynical and mean-spirited.

Ruth Hunsdorfer — A teenager interested only in boys and gossip and being
liked; she suffers from epileptic seizures and is influenced by Beatrice’s
cynicism and concern for what others think. She is brash and angry.

Tilly Hunsdorfer — A studious, thoughtful, determined, gentle preteen, who
is profoundly influenced by what she’s learning in her science class from
her teacher Mr. Goodman.

Janice Vickery — A rival to Tilly in the science fair competition; she is
calculating, self-serving, and insensitive. Her project presentation
showcases that and provides a note of humor.

Nanny  — An aged, enfeebled woman who lives in a spare room. Her presence
is a source of income for Beatrice who verbally mocks her. She is a strong
presence when on stage but never speaks.
