AUDITIONS FOR THE HOLIDAY PANTO “THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY-HA-HA-HOLLOW” AT
STAGEWORKS/HUDSON

Stageworks/Hudson Announces Auditions For Its First-Ever Holiday Panto With
“The Legend of Sleepy Ha-Ha-Hollow”: December 2 Through December 4

Hudson, NY – Stageworks/Hudson marks the end of its 2005 production season
with an original holiday panto, based on Washington Irving’s “The Legend of
Sleepy Hollow,” featuring local actors and community members.  Set right here
in the Hudson Valley, “The Legend of Sleepy Ha-Ha-Hollow” is a comic twist on
the familiar Headless Horseman story, told through slapstick, off-color jokes
and farce.  

Auditions for all roles will be held the evenings of Thursday, October 27th
and Friday, October 28th, and the morning of Saturday, October 29th at
Stageworks/Hudson at 41 Cross St. in Hudson, NY.  To schedule an audition
time, please call 845-340-1610.  Audition material is available through email
or in hard copy at the theater.  

Performances of “The Legend of Sleepy Ha-Ha-Hollow” will be Friday, December 2
at 7:30pm, Saturday, December 3 at 7:30pm, and Sunday, December 4 at 2pm. 
Rehearsals, beginning October 28, will be held in the evenings and on the
weekends at Stageworks/Hudson at 41 Cross St. in Hudson, NY.

“The Legend of Sleepy Ha-Ha-Hollow” is a non-Equity community production.  All
performers must be non-union. 

CAST BREAKDOWN: 
All roles in involve some singing.  The roles of Ichabod, Brom and the
Horseman involve simple stage combat.  

ICHABOD CRANE – 20s to 30s – Hero –  Schoolteacher who is the True Love of
Katrina Van Tassel and the rival of Brom Bones.  He is noble, brave, proper
and intelligent but sometimes clueless.  

DIEDRICH KNICKERBOCKER – 20s to 30s – Sidekick to Ichabod – He offers
commentary on the situation is the most modern of the characters.  

KATRINA VAN TASSEL – 20s to 30s – Heroine – Like Ichabod, she has a heart of
gold and a brave, independent streak.  

BROM (BONES) VAN BRUNT – 20s to 30s – Villain – Vain, macho, egotistical, and
boisterous.  

BALTA VAN TASSEL – 40s to 50s – Dame character (played by a male in drag) –
She is Katrina’s mother, mayor of Sleepy Hollow, and is flirtatious,
unreserved, and flamboyant.  She takes a liking to Brom and Ichabod and makes
the majority of the off-color jokes and references.  

HEADLESS HORSEMAN – 30s to 50s – Traditionally sinister, but with a twist.  

CHILDREN AND TOWNSPEOPLE – All ages eight and up.      

Stageworks/Hudson is a highly acclaimed theater company at 41 Cross Street in

Valley.
