Synopsis:
INHERIT THE WIND
"He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind; and the fool shall be servant to the wise in heart." Proverbs 11, 29
This is classic courtroom drama, pitting against each other two opposing and powerful beliefs; academic freedom and religious fundamentalism. Bert Cates is on trial for teaching the theory of evolution. The prosecuting attorney is Matthew Harrison Brady, three-time presidential candidate and leader of the crusade against evolution. His opponent is Henry Drummond, an attorney famous for successfully defending underdogs. Drummond makes the fight not about who is right and who is wrong, but about the privilege of free-thought. Both Brady and Cates have the same rights, he says, "the right to be wrong." "A masterpiece . . . one of the truly great American dramas of this century."Columbus, Ohio, Citizen.
