Emotions run high for Ed and Millie, a middle aged Jewish couple who
have just received the news that their daughter, Rosalie, is gay and

wisecracking, knows Ed well and though she knew her daughter well. Has

On a remote clearing in the Arizona desert, only the drone of insects
offers any hint of life when Gary, a volunteer Minuteman and Roberto, a
Mexican who may have illegally crossed the border, confront each other
under the blistering sun. The play travels back and forth in time,
interweaving the lives of two men firmly gripped in a stalemate of
contrasting beliefs only to discover that compassion can transcend all
boundaries.
Gary Dobbs
40 - 45 An American from Kentucky who spends his days in the Arizona
dessert as part of The Homeland Patriot Project, a volunteer
organization providing support to the Border Patrol and other law
enforcement agencies. Underneath his authoritative facade is a man who
is underemployed, having lost his job to globalization and the economy
and who is worried about his son who is serving in Afghanistan.
Roberto Castillo
A Latino in his 40's, Roberto has entered the US from Mexico in search
of his daughter. He has a dry sense of humor, he is stubborn and
loyal. Belying his calm is his determination to find his daughter.
Pilar Castillo
A Latina in her mid 20's. Pilar is Roberto's daughter. She is smart,
sassy and hell bent on crossing the border into the US to be with her
husband who already lives illegally in the States.
Jesus Ortiz

money in America to send home to support his wife and new baby in
Mexico. Throughout the journey he is a crutch for Pilar, encouraging her
to continue and defending her against Montoya.
