SLOC is holding auditions for the male, lead role of FREDERIC for their October, 2010 production of the Gilbert & Sullivan classic operetta, THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE.

Performance Dates: October 15-17; 21-24, 2010.

Rehearsals: Sunday: 6-9pm; Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 7-10pm.

FREDERIC(Tenor, Male Lead): 21 years old; manly, genuine & innocent. He has great verve & energy; outgoing, uneffected and honest. The role requires an excellent upper vocal range.


SHOW PLOT: "The Pirates of Penzance" concerns Frederic, who having completed his first year, is released from his apprenticeship to a band of tenderhearted pirates. He meets Mabel, and the two fall in love. Frederic finds out however, that he was born on Feb 29th and so, technically, he only has a birthday each leap year. His apprenticeship indentures state that he remain apprenticed to the pirates until his 21st birthday, and so he must serve for another 63 years. Mabel agrees to wait for him faithfully.
