Curtain Call Theatre (Latham, NY) is holding auditions for the part of
Evelyn Sutton (50s) in the light comedy 37 Postcards by Michael McKeever.
Production dates: July 8th – August 13th (Thurs at 7:30pm, Fri & Sat at 8pm,
Sun at 3pm).

Evelyn (50s) is an upper class woman who lives in an affluent community in
Darien, Connecticut. She enjoys the material comforts of her life but she
has also seen her share of emotional pain. After the death of one of her
twin sons, she psychologically retreats to an imaginary world that shields
her from the heartache that “real life” ushers in. The actress playing
Evelyn should be able to appear refined and polished in Evelyn’s matronly
dresses and pearl necklaces. Because this play is a light comedy with a
dramatic heart, this actress should have strong comic timing as well as a
good sense of how to shape dramatic moments.

More information about the production is below. Interested actresses should
contact the director, Cindy Bates cindy at batesny.com, to arrange an audition
date and time in the coming week. Auditions will be held at Curtain Call
Theatre, 210 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY. www.curtaincalltheatre.com.
Actresses will read sides from the script.

Curtain Call Theatre – 37 Postcards

Production Dates and Times: Friday, July 8th to Saturday, August 13th
(performances on Thurs at 7:30pm, Fri & Sat at 8pm, Sat & Sun at 3pm)

Plot: Avery Sutton, a kind hearted and surprisingly humble young man,
returns home after years of traveling abroad. He has brought his fiancé,
Gillian, home to meet his family but his family has changed quite a bit
while he has been gone. The house is falling into a sinkhole so everything
is tilted at a distinct angle but no one living in this house seems to
notice. Other oddities come to life as Avery tries to adjust to who his
family has become over the years. This craziness – which leads to many comic
moments for the audience – seems overwhelming to Avery until he begins to
realize that his family’s behavior is their way of coping with sadness and
loss. Can this family be whole again?
