"Zombie Prom: The Musical”," written by Dana Rowe and John Dempsey, is directed and choreographed by Jason Ford, with musical direction by Matt Streifert and produced by Jeremy Noble
SHOW SYNOPSIS:
What’s a pretty senior to do when her rebel-without-a-cause boyfriend dies after driving his motorcycle into an atomic power plant only to come back as an oozing zombie hell-bent on graduating? Does she still go with him to the prom? At Enrico Fermi High in the 1950’s, the answer is likely to be “yes”. With super-charged doses of “Little Shop of Horrors” and “Grease”, this girl-meets-ghoul musical explodes with exciting mutations of doo-wop, teenage ballads, rousing gospel and rock to release a radioactive feel-good glow upon the entire nuclear family!
ROLES AVAILABLE:
Miss Delilah Strict: Mezzo-Soprano, must have good supported head tones, almost operatic sounding. Sings to a high A. Enrico Fermi High School Principal, lives up to her name. Her motto,” Rules, Regulations and Respect”, is her life. Runs a tight ship, likes everything and everyone to fall in line. She is hiding a dark secret from her wild youth.
Toffee: Belt soprano, must have good lower range (sings a low F-sharp at one point) and belt (or mix) to a high E. Pretty, smart, spunky. She’s a good girl, but she can’t help falling for the new boy.
Candy, Coco, Ginger: One strong, solid belt with head tones, One belt (or mix) soprano and One character belt soprano to a C-Sharp. Toffee’s friends. Sweet, supportive, each has her own personality: the cheerleader, the teacher's pet, and the fashion plate.
Jonny Warner: High rock tenor – sings up to a high B-flat, can use a good, strong, supported falsetto (50’s rock and roll sounding falsetto). New guy at school. Orphan, rebel without a clue. Falls for Toffee at first sight.
Joey, Josh, Jake: One high rock tenor, strong, supported falsetto OK (sings alto in group numbers) and Two strong tenors with low notes. The Boys at Enrico Fermi High. Each has his own personality: the jock, the nerd and the class clown .
Eddie Flagrante: Baritone/crooner type. Sings to a high F-sharp. Cracker-jack reporter of Expose Magazine, does whatever it takes to get a scoop. Good looking, charming, a ladies’ man.
There are several small ensemble roles that may be cast individually or doubled by the teen trios.
NOTES: This is a 50's rock show, so please come prepared with 32-bars of something that is rock-style and that shows your range. (Think Grease, Little Shop, Bye Bye Birdie, Hair, etc,) You can sing from the show and music will be provided it you choose to do so.
If you plan to sing a song for the show, please prepare one of the following:
Toffee: "Voice in the Ocean" and/or "Jonny Don't Go"
Jonny: "Voice in the Ocean" and/or "It's Alive"
Strict: Rules, Regulations & Respect
Eddie: That's The Beat For Me
Please come prepared to learn choreography.
