Proctors After School Arts Academy: 2014-2015 School Year

SALARY: Based on Experience

BENEFITS: There are no extended benefits.

START DATE: Tuesday, October 14, 2014 (two ten week sessions) 3:30pm to 5:30pm

REQUIREMENTS:

·      Associates or Bachelors in Theatre or Drama.
·      Candidates should have 3-5 years teaching experience with K-6 students, experience leading a class by themselves, experience teaching acting, improv, or theatre, be available two or more days per week (to teach classes of 20 students after school).
·      Artists must have strong teaching and classroom management skills; proven experience and ability to teach BOTH visual are and theater arts; excellent writing skills, the ability to write in several genres; an understanding of grammatical construction; at least 3 years of early elementary school classroom teaching experience; knowledge of early childhood literacy; strong interest in at least one art form; confidence using many art forms; and flexibility.
 JOB DESCRIPTION

Helping the children read plays with feeling, and understand the theater genre.
Producing short plays in the club and putting on a play for the after school parents.
Directing a longer play or musical with the older grades for performance.
Choosing a script or writing a script.
Coordinating stage production, including sets, props and costumes.
Leading after-school student rehearsals.
Create focused and supportive environment that teaches teamwork.
