 Evan Wyler has just finished a photo shoot. No, he’s not a super model,
just a twenty-something New York writer savoring the success of his debut
novel. Defined by the media as the “hot young” thing-of-the-moment, Evan
captures the attention of Alexa Vere de Vere, a black-clad woman of mystery
who’s made the world of celebrity her home. In fact, it’s her religion.
Maybe she’s a record producer, maybe she’s a film agent; what is clear is
that she wants Evan to write the screenplay of her life story. Spend time
with Auntie Name and Sally Bowles… But, Alexa vanishes, leaving him to foot
the bill for all the dinners and Armani suits they’ve gone through. Trying
to find Alexa, Evan discovers a chain of people who have fallen under her
spell and acted as her meal ticket. Alexa puts it: “You’re not the person
you were born-who wonderful is?”



*Available Roles:*

*Alexa Vere de Vere*: A con artist living in New York –Woman, 40s – early
50s


*Evan Wyler*: Author who gets tangled up in Alexa’s web – Man, late 20s –
30s


*Four ensemble players*. Each will need to be able to play multiple
characters with distinct voices and personalities. They will be involved in
shifting the play from location to location, even in scenes where they have
no lines. The age ranges are open.


*Man #1* will play:
Mike Stabinsky: Artist friend from Alexa’s past
Skunk: A British rocker, victim of Alexa
Salesclerk

*Man #2* will play:
Morris Kaden: Record executive, victim of Alexa
Swen: Male model, victim of Alexa
Photographer, Hotel Clerk

*Woman #1* will play:
Bethany Vance: An actress, victim of Alexa
Ginny Cameron: Young violinist, Alexa’s next victim
Photographer’s assistant, Secretary, Backup singer, Muse

*Woman #2* will play:
Illya Mannon: A dancer, victim of Alexa
Carla: Nightclub patron, old friend of Alexa
Denise: young actress, victim of Alexa
Backup singer, Muse
