Capital Repertory Theatre will hold its local EPAs for the 2019-2020 season on Monday, August 22, 2019 at Capital Repertory Theatre, 111 N Pearl St, Albany, NY 12207.


Equity rules mandate that union actors are seen first, but we will do our best to accommodate all actors in an efficient way.

As a reminder, Equity actors do not require appointments. Please bring your Equity Membership Card.


Non-pro actors must submit current headshot and resume to casting at capitalrep.org to be considered for auditions. Selected non-pro actors will receive an email with a 1 hour time slot in which they may be seen.


Salary: LORT minimum $696/week (goes up to $717/week on 2/16/20) + P&H

Capital Rep is a 300-seat, LORT D theatre, operating since 1981 in Downtown Albany, NY. The 2019-20 season starts in 6/19 and runs through 8/20.

Synopsis: While spying on their wives at a “Girls’ Night Out” trip to a male strip club, a group of unemployed Buffalo steelworkers come up with a bold way to make some quick cash by stripping. Based on the cult film of the same name, this ten-time Tony Award nominee is filled with heart.
NOTE: there is very brief full nudity in the show. All actors need to be comfortable with their bodies to be in various states of undress.
NOTE: Roles of Vicki, Jerry and Harold are cast. Role of Nathan will be cast with a local teen actor.

Jeanette –40-50+ - piano player, seen it all, been there, done it. Showbiz running through her blood, you can’t shock her but she’ll shock you, as she says what’s really on her mind. Comic. Low alto belter. (actor does not have to actually play piano)
Pam – 30s-40s - Jerry’s estranged wife, a realist, wrestles with her feelings about Jerry. Loves him, but has learned to be disappointed. Alto w/belt.

Note: Moderate dance skills required for all male principals
Dave – 30s-40s unemployed steel work, lovable, good natured soul with body weight and self-esteem issues. Must be comfortable with your belly to proudly wield it with all its pride and glory. Lyric tenor with falsetto
Malcolm- 25-30s – shy, awkward, friends are worried about his mental state, he transforms from desperately lonely to deeply loving. High tenor with smooth falsetto.
Ethan – 25-30s – optimistic, energetic, farm boy handsome, well-built, athletic; he’s not a great dancer, but he’ll try anything…High baritone/tenor
Noah “Horse” T. Simmons – 50s -retired African American steel worker, gentle demeanor, excellent mover with great deadpan comic timing, Baritone/Tenor

Synopsis: Kenneth Lonergan’s dramedy. Jeff, a luckless, but likable 20-something security guard is drawn into a local murder investigation involving Bill, his tightly wound Black supervisor, who has been called upon to bear false witness to protect his troubled brother. When Jeff decides to reveal a big secret about the crime to his secret crush, all hell breaks loose when she decides to tell her unscrupulous macho-cop partner. The play echoes contemporary issues of “Me too,” and impact of racial prejudice.

Synopsis: George Bailey and all the residents of Bedford Falls, as you’ve never seen - or heard -- them before. Based on the classic Frank Capra film, the story comes to life as a live, 1940s radio broadcast. Five actors give voice to all the memorable Bedford Falls characters, accompanied by sound effects and music created live on stage.

The resident Foley artist for the station, and a true artist of the craft, he is also very good with voices and dreams of being an on-air actor. He is in love with Evelyn. Plays: Joseph, George, Harry and Martini for the broadcast.
MAYS - mid-30’s-40’s; Long-time character actor and well-known to the WVL Listeners. In a secret relationship with Kitty and scared to let anyone know about it. Very good with voices and vocal Foley sounds. Plays: Franklin, Clarence, Gower, Bailey, Potter, Billy, Bert, Sam, Man, Mrs. Hatch, Tom, Pete, Tommy, Nick and Sherriff for the broadcast.

(2) females:
EVELYN REED - mid-20’s to 30’s; Appears to be a bit meek and thus fits in well as the station’s secretary and general domestic support crew. Has a bit of theatre in her background and when handed the challenge, steps up to the plate and proves she’s got what it takes to be an on-air actor. Plays: Mary, Carter, Owner and Cop for the broadcast.
KITTY DAYLE - 30’s-40’s; Character actor with a lot of talent and strong feminine wiles. In a secret relationship with Mays and completely fed up with the secrecy. Very good with voices. Plays: Violet, Ernie, Mrs. Bailey, Dr. Campbell, Tilly, Ruth, Maria, Mrs. Randall, Mrs. Thompson, Teller, Janie, Zuzu and Driver for the broadcast.

Synopsis: Richard and David had it all: great jobs, a great Manhattan apartment and a great relationship. It seemed a natural thing to adopt a child to share their good fortune, right? Whoops! Rewind! Richard’s fear of commitment reared its head and out he walked. Now, eight years later, a crisis brings him back, to be forgiven, to be useful, to be family.
Note: The role of David is cast. The role of Josh will be cast with a local teen.

Richard: mid-late 50’s. Not a cold man, but his default is not a smile. Physically fit, handsome and naturally magnetic. He’s never had to make much of an effort…until now. Logical. Problems are to be solved. Dry sarcasm. Age is softening him. He has always loved David, and still does.
Oscar: late 80’s. Richard and Laura’s father. Physical ailments have destroyed his body. Still, he manages to be imposing. Most often found complaining. But, like Richard, age has softened him…a bit. Oscar and David have a connection of the beloved father-in-law/son-in-law – even though David and Richard never married.

(1)Female:
Laura: late 40’s. Richard’s younger sister and Oscar’s daughter. Refreshingly, or maddeningly, unfiltered depending on whom it is she is talking too. The last one to leave the party. Laura is more ‘hip’ than Richard, she has a Facebook page and knows how to use it. She and David also have a loving connection.

A rollicking, roller coaster of a ride, compiled by Frank McCourt (Angela’s Ashes), who brings his wit, trademark bitter and boundless love of his people to this revue about all things Irish. This show delivers what it promises: stirring blarney, a bit of hokum, genuine heartache and much joy. Set in McCourt’s Pub, complete with a working bar, the narration weaves a buoyant blend of traditional songs, show tunes and pop – from “Danny Boy” to George M. Cohan to U2.

Ensemble of 5 actor/storyteller/musicians. Seeking versatile actor/musicians who sing, dance a bit and move well, all with verbal dexterity. All have Irish accents. Instruments (advanced level playing skill): Fiddle, Flute/piccolo player/whistle player, Guitar/Banjo/Mandolin, Percussionist/bodhran, cajon, bells, tambourine, hand drum

Synopsis: When lounge singer, Deloris Van Cartier, witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won’t be found: a convent. Disguised as a nun, the Vegas diva finds herself at odds with a starched Mother Superior, but using her dance moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the community – and herself as well. Filled with rock, pop and powerful gospel music.

Mother Superior – 50-60s – White. On the surface, stiff, disciplined, prudish, but is transformed through music and Delores’ tenacity. Mezzo soprano, legit and belt.
Mary Roberts – 20s – White. shy, wallflower, soft-spoken, finds her voice through the music and spirit that Delores brings to the convent. Big voice, high soprano belt
Mary Patrick – 30s-50s, a large women in every way, happy, joyful, very excitable, one might say, pathologically perky. Soprano
Mary Lazarus – 60s – deadpan, hilarious, wise-cracking, former choir leader. Alto.

Curtis Jackson – 40s – Black. Intimidating. Tough guy, gangster. He means business. He’ll stop at nothing to find Delores. Tenor/high Ab, sings “When I Get My Baby.”
Joey - 20s-30s – White. Not so smart, body guard, a ‘bouncer’ type: strong build, sings ala Bee-Gees/4 Seasons with Pablo and TJ. Tenor/falsetto.
Pablo – 20s - only speaks in Spanish – completely Vegas, Sings like the BeeGees/4 Seasons with Joey and TJ, Must speak Spanish. Tenor/very high falsetto.
TJ – 20s-30s – Black. Flashy, beefy, guy you want on your side. Sings like the Bee Gees/4 Seasons with Pablo and Joey. Tenor/falsetto
Eddie Souther – 30s – Black. Desk Chief cop, shy, nicknamed “sweaty Eddy,” nervous under pressure, not confident with women. We care about him and want him to get together with his longtime crush, Delores. Tenor/high B.
Monsignor O’Hara – 60s – Appears to be traditional, disapproving of all-things outside the rules and regulations of the church, but transforms with the music and Delores’ persuasive energy. High baritone.
